It's the equivalent of eBay hashtags or YouTube baiting.

OOP (When it's not)
Pro-Painted (When it's not)
Oldhammer (When it's not)
NIB (When it's not)
Limited Edition (When it's not)
Discontinued (When it's not)
Metal (When it's not)
Also the constant use of the basic GW image from their website - but within the auction you'll find it's a used model from 2003 missing a turret and half-painted with chalkboard paint by a nine year old.

I saw funny one talking about the high quality of the model assembly, about mould line removing etc..- then in the half decent photos clear mould lines; clear gaps in the plastic, clear issues. Sure they weren't the most dire I'd ever seen, in fact possibly decent, but that they'd chosen to go to down highlighting the quality that wasn't there was amusing.
But yeah people use lies or tricks to get ranked better to get more lookers at a product all the time. Other times people get things wrong through mistakes, laziness or lack of understanding.
Eg someone might well list something as "out of production" when its not; or perhaps they list it as metal because the last 50 things they listed were metal.

I was looking for the OOP killzones, and just started giggling at this posting. Figured you guys would get a good laugh too.
I've noticed most sellers are pretty good about being honest, however, several vastly overestimate the value of their listing!

Some people are just absurd with their expectations (and it's obvious they haven't looked on eBay for what stuff is actually selling). A lot of sellers use pricing bots which are always wildly off the mark.
I did well selling $10K+ of used 40K stuff on commission because I was honest with my customers. I insisted on zero-nonsense advertising, quality pictures and an honest description. I was equally honest with the customers about their expectations and what things would realistically sell for.

It only counts if the pictures look like it was rolled in flock before being primed as well.

From the Pictures, Other then a wash- Go for it. It looks like a sweet deal.
One thing to ask them, though- do you get the books and cards with it for Killteam. THAT to me would be the deal breaker. At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |
