I'm kind of hoping that the Logos Historica Verita get fleshed out a lot more. So far we've only encountered one in Plague War. And she was pretty interesting, but didn't get into fighting much. She had a xenos familiar and bantered with the Arch-militant about how the Chaos Gods aren't gods.
Not much to be said, but I'm really hoping to see some short stories at the very least with them fighting the Inquisition.

my personal headcanon is that the Blood Ravens have become their unoffical chamber militant.

If she thinks the Chaos gods aren't..... well I can see that ending badly. I'm guessing it's intentional irony on the authors part.

she more tends to ascribe to the view that the Chaos gods are powerful extradimensional entities whom can impact the galaxy to one degree or another yes, but they aren't actual GODS.
it really at the end of the day depends how you define a god. I think it's worth discussing weather or not the chaos gods actually fit..

Its very much a philosophical point of view. Kind of like how in Stargate they were constantly trying to convince civilizations that Aliens/Ascended Beings weren't gods. But the argument always ended up like this:
SG1: They aren't gods, they are just using highly advanced technology that gives them god-like powers. Person: What's the difference?
SG1: They aren't gods, they are just ascended to higher plane of existence that gives them god-like powers. Person: What's the difference?

Too which SG1's answer was to shoot the alien in the head: case closed.
Then the goofy evil(er) Ascended ones happened...

My understanding is that generally "gods" in the sense that we understand from Egypt, Greece, Scandinavia and possibly Hinduism may or may not have created the universe, but they were at least here before humans, and had something to do with our creation. From that point of view, the Chaos powers aren't "gods", as we (well, Old ones and Necrontyr) were here first. Still, once you get to a certain level of power, it doesn't really make a lot of difference, and gods being a creation of (or simply drawing power/sustenance from )their believers is a pretty common trope nowadays. You can see it in Discworld, David Eddings' Elenium/Tamuli settings and I'm sure there's others.

I think there is definitely precedent to say that the Chaos Gods can be harmed. The Emperor being the Anathema to them makes for an interesting point. Specifically the Chaos Gods can't be harmed in a shoot them in the head tactic, but by destroying their cultists and daemons eventually the Chaos Gods will lose their ability to influence the mortal plane.
Hence why the Great Rift was needed, otherwise the Chaos Gods and their Daemons would be more limited in how they manifest.
