Hey all, I've built a list for a 1500pt fun and fluffy tournament I try to go to now once or twice a year. I'm satisfied with it and it's currently being built/painted. However I'm thinking beyond that list now to potential competitive tournaments in the future. I don't do spam lists is my only caveat as my attention span is short and I'm pushing myself to the limits to painting my current 30 CSM's which are the foundations of my Red Corsairs army. Here it is:

Think the list has abit of everything, my large blob of CSM's that can come back for 3CP I think will do work with VOTLW, plus the special weapons can take on everything, the Missile Launchers I think are very versatile with the ability to use the flak strat vs models with fly (so smash captains not just flyers) or Krak vs vehicles or frag vs hordes. Obviously endless cacophony ontop of that makes them really tasty. Huron buffs them with Prescience and provides reroll 1's and works as a CQC deterrent as he's abit of a beat stick in combat.

The rest of the list is designed for maximum threat saturation. A rhino full of possesed + greater possesed + Master of possesion buffing the squad with Sherpard of the truth faith dealing out mortal wounds on 6's. Question here, do I mark them with Tzentch for the possibility of a 3+ invuln with the Weaver of fates power + master of possesion power or just go Khorne for a reroll to charge and ability to attack twice strat? Basically durability vs killy.

The Achilles land raider is something I've wanted to run for some years now, it's got some serious damage output and with the invuln save it's actually durable and it goes nicely with the idea that my Red Corsairs have all these relics and vehicles stolen from raids etc. Then I'll have a small blob of Chosen inside ready to pop out and unleash some decent dakka.

The Daemon prince is the only choice I'm sitting on the fence about as I'm not sure fluff wise if the Red Corsairs would really be running with them, but it's almost a must take with all chaos competitive builds and he could be shielded by the Achilles quite easily.

Lastly I've modelled up some Chaos Bikers using FW scimitar jetbikes, again to go with the fluff that they literally steal all the best gak around.They add some manoeuvrability to the list.

Overall quite happy with the list, have a feeling people might take issue with my possesed (Using Gal Vorbak models which might change your minds ) and the Achilles is a big points sink but think it can work as the cliche distraction carnifex that will actually take a punch.

No he won't, VOTLW is only for Legions, not renegades..... (BTW if you really want an effective allrounder the AC is half as expensive and nearly double as effective, there's a statblock somewher in the CSM tactica)

Possesed are imo not worth it for what they offer (20 pts for less attacks with less strength then Khorne berzerkers which are also cheaper)

Dp's greater possesed and possesed are all choices that fluffwise would seem not on a RC battlefield, RC is a legion sized pirate band, relying on sheere numbers of marines and other assorted cannonfodder.
Possesed are also used by CSM overall as stand in for navigators, so 'd imagine that RC would probably not waste them on the battlefield.

Ah yes! It's one of those things I keep forgetting....As for the AC I consider this but I thought the Flak missiles dishing out mortals to smash captains in all there variants, Space Wolves, BA, DW etc it will forgo the invulns. I see the price more as an something that'll keep giving back as I'll just spend the 3CP and bring the squad back.

Think I'll drop the Daemon Prince, annoying can't have a chain lord instead as I'm RC. Other suggestions for HQ? Maybe a Chaos Lord on bike to buff the squad?

The chosen are indeed a glass cannon and wish I could bump the numbers with just combi bolters but the Achilles LR only has room for 6....

As for the Possessed they're actually Str 6 with the Great Possessed buffing them. Also the Greater possessed is a CQC beast with his on aura + Intoxicating elixir dishing out mortal wounds on 6's in addition. Paired with the Master of Possession buffing reroll hits and wounds makes the synergy nice there I thought paired with advance and charges with 7" base move. As for fluff I think I'm going to have to just conjure something up for mine, the Gal Vorbak models are one of my favs in the chaos range along with the one Greater Possessed with the massive scythe arm

Thanks for the tips fella, last time I played Chaos was back in 5th when I was a teenager and I've grown tired of my current Eldar list and feel like I've been missing the brutality of Chaos

Thoughts on dropping the Achilles and DP and opting for a probably more fluffy choice of Airwing detachment of Hellblade, Hellblade, helldrake? The fw flyers seem great and I've seen people use the helldrake purely as an annoying harrasment unit that ties up key units up in combat.

Think I'll drop the Daemon Prince, annoying can't have a chain lord instead as I'm RC. Other suggestions for HQ? Maybe a Chaos Lord on bike to buff the squad?

NOW HOLD ON RIGHT THERE A SEC, that all depends on how you model the good DP: Considering that RC have a vast array of warpsmiths, don't you think they could've pulled something like that?

Now there can be argued that you would be better off with that, i would reccomend it, because their shooting output is just way higher.

just to point this out, you can run technically 3 of them as greater possesed with some daemon engines that want to go into melee. I still would not recomend possesed though, but if you really want to field them, give them the mark of khorne instead. Icon for rerolling charges is > then the potential higher ++ save.

the helldrake is bad, no seriously, even at harrasing, yes it can harrass but it is bad.
The fighters, (you meant the fighters right?) twin hellstorm for 130 pts, considering that it targets anything not flying with 4+ . i mean it is better then helldrakes still not so sturdy. You don't mind flying this into your enemy.

Well maybe I convert up a Mhara Gal with some wings as my Daemon prince to work in concert with the other possesed. Guess I'll just have to figure out work else would work instead of the flyer option then...
