As someone in my flgs put it, playing as NW is playing the game on easy mode.
What I want to know is any successful strategies out there for defeating them, or what people feel wild be an appropriate points penalty for the NW. For example, the last game I played as NW with a three point penalty (I had 37 points and opponent had 40)
But I don't have many games under my belt (really only 1!) So I wanted to get the communities input.

Stop funding them for a few generations.

I say this to everyone whose first instinct is to call NW too strong, it isn't that they are better than other armies, they just have a lower skill ceiling.
People can play them to their potential quickly, making them seem way too good, where in reality their tricks and technique is just maxed out early. The other armies just require more experience to be played to their utmost.
One piece of advice is tactical NCU denial. Many NW lists lean on the crutch of Aemon + Craster. This can make them seem unkillable, but focusing down a unit, especially after denial picks of the coin-purse, can put them a unit down. Once NW further loses activations things often go south for them.

Thank you, that is good advice. Aemon plus Craster is a potent combo.
Glad to hear that more experienced players will be able to give them a run for their money.

The game really does feel more balanced than most current tabletop games, making for one that works well as a serious competitive game. Good tactical choices, positioning, etc... feels like much more of a factor in this game, than list building being where you win 75% of your battles.
Give it time, learn what you AND your opponent need to do to win, and then just undermine their efforts while you work on your own. It really sounds wargaming 101, but so many modern games have undermined the importance of, you know... playing well. :-p
