I want to enter the grand tournament this year, as it might be the last chance I get for a while. I also want a list that takes the maximum number of assassins as they're my favourite models. Everything else is just my "Best Guess" to try and make them competitive.
The Shadowsword is the workhorse, taking out the super heavy's and drawing most of the incoming fire. The Psyker and the Tech-preist try and keep it alive while the commander farms command points. Sly Marbo is just like a mini assassin so I felt I had to include him.

Its a terrible list I know, I'll be playing with a total of 4 command points and I'm expecting to come somewhere near the bottom in the tournament but I just want one last hurrah with the Assassins before I pack them up for a while. If you can think of a better spend for the remaining 730 points then I'm all ears.

I like where you're going with this Anyone who owns that many assassins should play them all I say. I would try and shoe horn in there a Trojan Support Vehicle to re-roll misses on the shadowsword. You'd have to drop the tech priest and one assassin to do it but that would really jack up the shots. Also, I don't have my book in front of me, but I think Sly is an Elite. So drop him and pick up a second company commander or another psyker. Also make them the regiment that allows the shadowsword to move & shoot as if it had twice an many wounds remaining. I'd give the psyker the power that makes it -1 to hit and psychic barrier so you can choose what's best for the big guy depending on what you're expecting to be hit with.

Also don't bother with laurels of command - who you gonna order around? Take Grand Strategist and the Aquila to get some CP back. Speaking of which I think the you get a total 6CP from this list. 1 for each detachment and 3 for being battle forged.

Some excellent points, I'd never heard of the Trojan Support Vehicle, but rerolling everything is a must, I'll have to find a way to squeeze it in. May have to drop a Culexus, though it pains me to do so.

Yeah I chose the wrong relic, I was after the Aquila. I don't think I'd get 6 CP (although I wish I did) think theres some rule that means vanguard detachments with nothing but assassins grant you no CP.

Trojans are forge world shenanigans Another, albeit expensive choice, is the Salamander Command Vehicle. Gives a selected vehicle +1 to hit but it's over 100 points so it's tough to justify.

Ah yeah you're right about the CP...forgot about that. You need one of each assassin to get CP out of the detachment. So why not work it out so you have 1 of each? Plus a few extra I guess...can't remember if it said you could only have 4 and 4 shall be the number...

I don't recall seeing this in any FAQs, can you point to it? Otherwise, seems to be a lot of people thinking things got FAQed that didn't regarding them...

You also missed the rule of 3. You can't have any more than 3 of the same units in a 2000 pt game or any game lower than that, unless it's a troops choice or a dedicated transport type unit (rhinos, venoms etc Not land raiders, scout speeders etc)

Erm, I haven't broken that rule though have I? I only bring one of each assassin 3 times

I don't think there's any limit on number of 'execution forces' as long as you have an imperium warlord. You just can't summon an assassin with operative requisition sanctioned' stratergem if you have those detachments.

Btw you'd get one extra cp if one detachment was 1 of each assassin and all the rest were in another detachment.

Couldn't you just take a castellan as your warlord. Makes the list even more crazy but arguably more effective with ion bullwalk you won't need to rotate ion sheilds, due to 4++ cap so CP isn't too important.

This is one of the coolest lists I've seen in a long time. I'd second using the Trojan support vehicle; total rerolls are just too good to pass up, but it would mean either dropping a set of sponsons or an assassin to fit in. I'd also say make your Supreme Command detachment Valhallan - you lose Straken, but he's a wannabe assassin anyway, and then your shadowsword has to take 20 wounds to drop to 5+ BS.

Do grand strategist and Aquila still stack? I thought the rules are that you can only gain 1 CP a turn now?
