That’s a ton of work but I kinda only have to do it once. I have a Warhound posed on a building in a nose down hunting stance and I want to add one marine huddled back against the building trying to be invisible. It’s an homage to the Nightmare model from Warmachine.

It's a cool idea. I plan on doing something similar for Fallout with a Behemoth and a Minuteman.

Unfortunately yes, if you want to get something suitably detailed, there's not much in the way of shortcuts. It's mostly just a lengthy process, though. The big time investment is in waiting for the green stuff to dry. Otherwise it's just putting in five or so minutes a day for a week and it should get you a decent result. Having the Marine pressed against the wall also saves you a little work on the back.

Now the most important question is, which legion? Is it an Ultramarine? I hope it's an Ultramarine!

That Legio is based on the Emperor’s personal legio which I assume are part of a Custodes order so the marine will be a traitor, probably a Luna Wolf or AL.

Dude I’m trying but I’m struggling with choosing s way to shade and highlight the gold. These aren’t man sized models so I haven’t seen a way I like for something this scale.

Golden titans? Nice choice!

I don't know if it'll help, but I'll post a couple of my golden models that were painted differently over the years. Maybe you'll find an approach you like.

Spoiler:

The Baneblade is oldest and got what was my best attempt at feathering with the center of the armor plates in the darkest color and getting lighter towards the edges.

The Emperor builds on a similar principle but uses feathery streaks to break up the large, monotonous areas to avoid the patchy look of the Baneblade.

The Sigmarine is basically the opposite and uses area highlights on a base gold that's toned down with olive followed by brown wash. While not exactly zenithal in nature, I tried for lighter colors towards the top of the armor pieces.

There's a Dark Angels joke in there just waiting to be made...

The Baneblade is where I originally was thinking, darker like the titan has been rained on or covered in dust from a drop. I remember having a page favorited before formatting my laptop where a guy mixed purple and green shades into his gold but for the life of me I can’t remember where I saw it. I don’t know if they were Custodes or not either.

Got a question as well, as I just got the grand master box coming in - how many model equip options are there that are modelled (different guns etc) and how easy are they made modular?

The Warlords are easy to magnetise as they've got holes built in. There's another plastic sprue of weapon options from GW and a couple of weapons from FW (Quake Cannon & Macro Gatling Blaster). There are currently no options available for the Knights, but some are coming.

Ah cool, what size holes/magnets are used normally? I hopefully have some spare from my Wraithknight.

I think they're 5x1

The pre-moulded holes are sized for 5×1mm for Warlords
I personally use 4×1mm for Reavers and Warhounds, and I just switched to using a combination of 1.5×2mm rods and 2×1mm discs on my knights, since the accessory sprue is out soon-ish.

by default yes they are 5x1. it is a snugh fit. if you have any paint in the hole (aka a primer) the mag wont fit.
hounds dont have any mag slots, you have to be creative.

Ok, as I just have GME, I'll think about others when I finish this lot.

Are there fittings for knights as well, or does it require some drilling and careful positioning?

Only the Warlord has moulded-in magnet slots, unfortunately.

The Knights should be magnetised at the “elbows” where the shoulder piece joins the bulk of the weapon, for forward compatibility with the upcoming upgrade sprue.
I use a 1.5 mm diameter magnet for the shoulder side and a 2mm for the weapon, mostly because 2mm are easier to get ahold of.

Honestly the knights aren’t even really worth the effort of magnetizing IMO. Even if they make the chaingun or flamer bits for the Cerastus knights the lancers are still your best option. I made my own just for fun and magnetized the bolt cannons but the shield is still really important. I don’t see myself using the guns much at all.

As far as Questoris knights you won’t really need to adjust their loadouts too much. The thermal cannon is better than the battle cannon and the Gatling gun really only hurts anything in a knight household army with the combined strike rule. If I were in your shoes I’d wait to build my Questoris arms until the new gauntlet/rocket pod sprue is released as the gauntlets will look cool mixed in amongst your chainswords.
