Were the Atramentar a sufficiently unique/renowned force to merit their own unique profiles over regular legion terminators? If so, would they be closer to a small upgrade like the Lernaeans or would they be 2 wound badasses like the Justaerin or Firedrakes? What kind of rules would you want to see to reflect their tactics and skills?

"The sword can be anklebiter as well as throatcleaver. We need no new weapons to defeat the sons of the hydra, merely new doctrines."

Think this was already brought up before, but I'm 99% sure that forgeworld already shot this idea down.

Then again, I hadn't heard about Ebon Keshig before the models were released so...

If they were to come out as a special terminator unit I'd have no idea what to expect. Most likely the Night Raptor/Terror squad treatment, so just regular terminators with grisly bits and extra weapon options with the fear rule. It would be interesting if they could infiltrate though, and maybe had some special rule with Sevatar

They didn't shoot down the Atrementar, they said they were coming in the book that features the Dark Angels and the Night Lords. Sevatar already has a rule related to the Atramentar, he's a teleporter beacon for DSing Terminator Squads, which works well cause the Night Lords are one of two Legions that can upgrade their Terminators to be able to DS with out needing a Character or a Rite of War. Im sure that rule might change for him when the Atramentar come out.

The last thing Forge World said is that the Atramentar seem to work if you just take a Command Squad and use the legion’s rules that let you take certain equipment.

They also said that about the Blood Angels and Sanguinary Guard, though it’s not quite straightforward to line up the plastic 40k kit’s weapons with the Command Squad’s weapon options. I get it; it doesn’t help FW to sell 40k kits.

The Imperial Fists’ Huscarls from the novels and the White Scars’ Keshig (regular, not Ebon or Golden) are in a similar situation… sort of; you can’t give a White Scars Command Squad power glaives.

Based on recent black books, I’d guess that the Night Lords will come close to getting new units but FW will decide they’re out of space or time and axe them. They meant to give the Space Wolves and Alpha Legion rules in Book 8. But… if they do get new units, they’ll probably include a Terminator unit that does something we weren’t expecting. Just like we didn’t expect the Blood Angels to get an anti-horde Terminator unit or the White Scars to get a Stubborn, can’t-attach-characters Terminator unit.

Oh my bad, I'll defer to the folks more knowledgeable on the subject than myself.

And now to look forward to actual Atramentar Terminators!
