Back when I was a kid, milliput took about 2 hours to go hard, or 15 minutes if I put it in front of a fan heater (I was using metal models, so there was no worry there).
Now it’s plastic and green stuff, but I’m still impatient. Does heat help GS harden? Is there another way?

Mix with milliput. It hardens quicker and you get a better sculpting material in the process.

Tried this alchemy today. Thank you! How did I not know about this before?!

Sometimes it's one of those things that's right in front of your eyes but you never think of. I tend to use a GS/milli mix when I need a nice smooth sculpt, but use pure milliput for smaller gap filling.

I never use pure GS anymore.. You might find yourself doing the same. The milli mix cures not only quicker but also much harder and can be cut and filed etc.

Its also heat sensitive so placing it under a hot lamp will speed up hardening times - this also goes for miliput and mixes

Thanks chaps- this cape is what happened after you inducted me into the secret brotherhood of the milliput mixers. Couldn’t be happier with the result!

Is Milliput available in the states? I’ve heard about how awesome it is, but I always see UK citizens talking about it.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

That's the stuff. 50/50 mix. It doesn't really matter though. If you want a harder cure, use more milli, if you want a smoother finish, add a little more GS. It's not really a science.. I just wing it and mix by eye, I'm very carefree when modelling. You can even mix all the components from seperate, despite what people say.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I'll say from my experience that GS on its own is a crap modelling putty. It can be used on its own for sculpting, see raffaele stumpos stuff for example.. But he's basically a professional sculptor, and you'll see his stuff is very dark, blue heavy mix green stuff. For amateurs like us you need a more user friendly substance, and milliput gives you that.

I can confirm, I didn’t know about premixing the two putties then mixing them together. I just put all four components together at once, and it worked fine. You have to mic it all really well though!
