Was trying to get havocs into an ITC list and haven't been very succesful as they are super squishy. I saw this list that got top4 in a small GT and thought to use a similar method of delivery:
https://www.40kstats.com/warzone-houston
- see 4th place

As a skeleton:

Spearhead - Alpha Legion
Chaos Lord - 74 pts
Sorcerer - 98pts (Prescience/Deathhex OR warptime)
5x Havocs - 4 with Chain guns - 150pts
5x Havocs - 4 with Chain guns - 150pts
Hellforged Deredeo - Butcher cannon - Twin Heavy Bolter - Greater Havoc Launcher - 198pts
Terrax Pattern Termite Assault Drill - Twin Volkite Chargers - 146pts

Battalion - Red Corsairs
Lord Discordant with Autocannons - 160pts
Lord Discordant with Autocannons - 160pts
5x vanilla CSM - 65pts
5x vanilla CSM - 65pts
5x vanilla CSM - 65pts

Current Total: 1331 pts
Remaining: 669pts pts

Current thought -
Spearhead:
Termite holds 12 models - 10 havocs, lord and sorcerer fit perfectly - Alpha vs the Purge etc. - need slaanesh to refire and alpha makes everything tankier. Termite itself is also quite nasty in close combat against vehicles and has some dakka. However, that ties up almost 600 pts into deepstrike so whatever is on the table has to be
1) tough
2) able to distract / disable significant screening for at least 2 turns so when havocs come in they can chew on prime targets
3) Enough CP to fuel potentially 2 turns of firing with havocs (VOTLW + Refire + potentially devastation battery, etc.) assuming they don't all die instantly

Alpha also allows me to consider leaving one squad on the table and moving in via 9 inch infiltrate and using Devastation battery to shoot during their movement etc.

Battalion
Not much to say here - Lords obviously worse in Red Corsairs than in Flawless Host but Red Corsairs trait is not necessarily useless on them with Advance + Charge and also opens up 8CP for doing so. Avoids sinking 120 pts (2 warpsmiths) and a full detach just for CP Farm. Marines hold objectives (prior to dying instantly).

So with the remaining 669 points what are good alternatives to provide target saturation for the discordants and deredeo but at the same time can be survivable enough/ensure screens and fliers don't walk all over the board? PBC's almost seem attractive but concerned that I won't have enough anti-vehicle (I'd run spitters obviously), I've also toyed with the idea of adding another Disco Lord and a Knight but nothing seems to quite provide what the list needs... etc.

The chaincannon havocs are much like oblitorators. They have massive damage potential but you can't rely on the after one turn of shooting. That said you can make them work if people are dealing with multiple threats at the same time.

I think you should definately take devastation battery. Armour bane and daemon's eye are amazing. I took it with some oblitorators at an itc tourney this weekend and they blew knights, daredeos and lots of armour away. Definately made their points back in all three games.

If I was you I'd take a third lord discordant, ahriman on disc and two daemon princes. You can the swap out you AL sorcerer for a second chaos lord (to babysit the Daredeo) or some sort of mele threat to counter charge from insode the drill (maybe a master of executions). Should be about 662 points.

Oh and if you make your LDs mark of tzeentch the daemon princes can run up with two of them and provide rerolls.

Huge fan of ahriman and the DP - particularly as it helps handle invuls etc. My concern in this list though was the lack of bubble wrap - all I really have to dictate target priority are 3 flimsy CSM squads - most lists I see running ahriman have almost 60+ plagues... The discos are characters so they won't block shots. You think it could work?

It's definately a different sort of list and I've played a version of it before at tournaments and done well. I've taken Ahriman, 2 Daemon Prince, 10 Scarab Occult, 2 Lord Discordants, 3x 5 csm, AL lord, 23 cultists and 3x oblits.

You give your opponent so many problems at the same time it means that they can only respond to one or two. You're wide open to counter attacks, especially those from deepstrike but you get the advantage of having lots of damage potential.

Ahriman is the only really easy target so I try and hide him in the scarabs, the daemon princes can take a reasonable amount of punishment with their 4++, same with the disco lords.

Do you have the models (or enough proxies) to give it a go? I find that's the best way to test a list.
