This thread could be placed in the 40k background section, but looking upon it further it could be placed in general as well due to Games Workshop having to make a whole different set of Grey Knights, something that they won't touch because it would cost them a pretty penny. Thoughts?

Make your own. Grab the GK heads, backpacks, and shoulders and any special bits and stick them on primaris bodies. Play them as counts as GK.

Because the creation of Grey Knights is so far removed from the creation of plebmarines that it wouldn't make sense to make primaris.

Also, most primaris came out of a fridge, and were made before the Grey Knights were even a thing. Don't know if Cawl even knows the Grey Knights even exist.

Well, the good old Tacticals pertain to the dark age,
while the Primaris are past-dark age, they belong to the renaissance.
The same holds for the GK.

are they not supposed to be a secret chapter that noone knows about?

if so, how can you "upgrade" something that does not exist??

I guess its possible.
Each chapter bar GK has access to Primaris in the meanwhile.
So Primaris GK will come soon I guess.

Didn't you read about roboute getting to the Emperor? He had a parade with the Grey Knights televised across the whole imperium. Everyone knows the Grey Knights.

Because GW hasn’t gotten around to doing models / upgrade sprues. They‘ll come eventually.

Covered in grey templar sygaldry, including a bunch of words engraved into their armor that sometimes say grey templar.

Sure. Just saying, secrets out. Everyone who saw the parade of roboute, which is everyone, also saw the grey templar. They are not a hidden chapter. Every administrator then looked at the list of chapters that are known and was like... these guys are not on the list.

Cawl is probably high enough rank to know about the Grey Knights. Honestly I think it would be cool if GK stayed manlet marines. Like they're just that good that they don't need Primaris. It won't happen since the line needs to be brought into the correct scale but it would be cool.

Because Primaris are going to have there own all singing and dancing all psychic chamber when sigm....sorry the emperor opens it.

GK will be able to enjoy new career options cleaning there Primaris replacements armour or as a living history exhibition on Titan entitled “life before Cawl how did we cope”

Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

Grey Templars are an all Primaris Chapter. They are NOT the Grey Knights

Because GW has not done models for them yet. GK are distinct enough that they can't just use the same normal Primaris models like the other variant chapters. I am sure Primaris GK will happen eventually, but only after the main Primaris line is more complete, and GW has time to fiddle with more dedicated models.

Well, all you really need to do is use the Deathwatch upgrade sprue and paint them Silver. If GKs got Primaris, it's not like they'd be all that different from all other Primaris (i.e. they'd all be in MkX armour, not necessarily GK snowflake armour)

Just no. GK has their own very distinct flair and fighting styles. They need those little golden letter all over their armour, they need psychic hoods, they need force weapons. They require complete bespoke models.

I think GK are going to be redesigned and lifted to custode power level. Where they rightfully should be.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

Following that logic when the inevitable revamp of Aspect Warriors happens it should just be a new Guardian model, but with different hats.

See how well that works?

An upgrade sprue or two should do the job to cover the weapons and maybe shoulder/knee pads. There is already a Primaris librarian model, and I believe it has a Psychic hood.

However, my question would be what is to be done about Terminator armor - would it become Gravis or are we going to see true terminator armor for Primaris somewhere down the line (I’m thinking we won’t)

It never ends well

Bad analogy, so I fail to see "how well that works"

My point is that FOR THE TIME BEING, GKs could EASILY get Primaris that are just regular Intercessors, for now, and when GKs get a PROPER update, they get their special snowflake Intercessors, Inceptors, etc

That’s the point genius - it doesn’t work.

And doing a half-assed “Grey knights coat of paint” on existing Primaris units is a recipe for disaster in both the short and long term.

It's simple. Games Workshop has a no model = no rules policy, as well as a no model = no new lore policy. If they decide to continue on with Grey Knights in the future, eventually they'll get a 4-5 kit Grey Knight Primaris release and that'll be that. They won't update fluff or lore to include them until that time. All it would do would cause more drama and nonsense.

So when you get models, you'll magically get new lore about them suddenly existing.

I mean, I could at best see them getting new armor and and the like (maybe). But hasn't the biggest benefit to Primaris marines been that they could be produced substantially faster? Grey Knights take a massive time investment. And rushing that just seems like asking for problems.

there's no evidance as far as I know Primaris can be produced any faster
