I just picked up the last box of Speed Freeks ( https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/262554/warhammer-40000-speed-freeks ) at my local store, and I have a few questions about it before I present it to my friend for his birthday next week.

Unnecessary details on this:
Spoiler:
Suffice it to say, he was a HUGE Gorkamorka fan back in the day (to the point where he traveled to Games Day Baltimore - may it RIP - with me to ask Andy Chambers a question about a town with unexplained lore on the back of it). He has always told me to let him know, since he hasn't played Warhammer of any kind since he got me into it for 3rd-4th edition, when Gorkamorka comes back. So, even though I'm late to the game on this for some reason I can't figure out, I've bought him Speed Freeks (as the next best thing) and am to present it to him next week/Saturday the 10th. Our wives will be there too and will almost certainly get a game going with us, assuming we get there early enough to maybe get everything out of the sprues and glue it all up that day. So I need to think fast on all this!

So my questions about this are (and feel free to just answer a single one if you can't think of an answer for them all, ofc):

1) Were there ever supplements or additional rules or published in White Dwarf etc. to expand the rules for Speed Freeks in any way? Or even FAQ's?

2) Are there any additional models that I should consider getting that would make the game better?

3) Are there any accessories (flame/explosion effects from 3rd party model sites etc.) that I should consider buying to help make the game better?

4) Can the game be a sort of race, with objectives that are fight-as-you-go, or is it just a deathmatch?

5) What is the best way to play the game with 3-4 players out the box?

6) What is the best way to play the game with 3-4 players assuming I'd be up for buying a few additional things in addition to the box?

I want to consider everything, and quickly, before I present the gift for him this upcoming Saturday. As for #3 above, I've thus far caught wind of how there's some game mode mentioned in the rulebook where you need to basically buy Speed Freeks four times in order to get enough game board to play on in order to play some sort of special mode. That point kind of inspired this thread's creation, actually. Can anyone shine a light on that, or any of these other questions?

It isn't "fluff" - it's lore.

No I don't think additional rules where published. Speed freaks is a classic example of a mini game crafted by GW mostly to give them an excuse to pack a buncha units together with great value

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Gotcha, thanks - though I find myself staring at this and hoping someone will say it's worth buying to go along with the set somehow anyway lol: https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Orks-Rukkatrukk-Squigbuggy-2018

EDIT: I've been doing some research and I just came across 'Da Big Race' which I thought I heard something about in a youtube video earlier. What is this about? Is it actual *racing*? Should I be buying additional gameboards on ebay for it ASAP to be able to play it on Saturday? [I am very, very tempted to do this!]

All of the new ork vehicles, including the ones that didn't come in the set, have rules for use in Speed Freeks. So go ahead and get a Rukkatrukk--you can use it!

The Big Race is the only scenario that uses more than 4 players. It uses just one vehicle for each player (normally, each player gets 3 bikes and 1 vehicle) and it uses two gameboards. You don't need two whole sets, but you do need two gameboards and some extra terrain to play it.

"Great Value"

2 Buggies and 6 bikes. You basically get part of 1 unit of bikes for free....which sounds nice until you remember that most Ork players already had enough bikes to choke on, on top of that, the rules for the buggies in 40k were so bad that GW can't get rid of the damned things. I mean, the terrain was nice...kind of. So if you needed terrain and were new to orkz it wasn't a bad purchase, but otherwise you got no value out of the kit whatsoever.

Every Ork box set seems to revolve around 75% units that GW can't get rid of because they are old, ugly or have such piss poor rules that nobody is buying them and then 25% of units/items that are either brand new or decent.

Look at the Ork Start collecting box, a deffdread, nobz a painboy and a unit of boyz. When this was released Dreadz and nobz were never used, everyone had enough boyz and painboyz already, look at the brand new Apocalypse box set for orkz.6 Kanz, 2 dreadz a SAG and a Mek. So the meat of that box is currently never used in competitive games because they are terrible, everyone already has at least 1 SAG and mekz are a dime a dozen because you can buy them in a box of lootas....which conveniently, everyone already has about 3-9 boxes of

GW just slaps some ork stuff that isn't selling or isn't going to sell and makes it slightly cheaper and calls it good enough.

Wow really? But where the hell are those rules? Do you mean the rules for them come in the speed freeks box? O.o

Also we are aiming to play with 4 players indeed, and I think we will all want to be playing in the form of a race. I actually went ahead and bought some extra boards on ebay for it already Just hoping everyone is up for gluing the models together first lol. How does 4 player beat-em-up racing work in it? I'm dying to know because I could find no information or game reports etc on literally anything else but the deathmatch, which I've seen some different opinions of. I think the racing could be badass, but how is it?
