I played and fell in love with this game at Gen Con, and went out and bought some stuff that I could get on sale and was wondering if I had a good starting place to learn the game.

I got an assembled Post Human Republic's Starter army, a Nemesis (I think?), and an Athena Fighter, and a Scourge Starter Army NIB.

So other than a 2nd ed. rulebook anything I need to target?

army list construction is still a bit in flux with the new book as well as the anticipated FAQ.

The one suggestion I can make for PHR is some Valkyries as well as some light dropships for them.

You may want to consider a heavy dropship (Poseidon I think I?) for your Nemesis as well.
