I painting a Slaanesh Daemon army, and I want my Infernal Enrapturess to really pop. So my idea was to make her gown sparkly, like an Elton John or Liberace outfit. Does anybody know how to do that? Would mixing some fine glitter into 'Ardcoat work?

You can get glitter spray paint. I have some for when I co candy effect panels for pinstriping/sign writing. They sell it in most craft shops.

Whether or not it would work for miniature painting is another matter. It is possible to do a sparkle effect, by painting small dots of a yellow gold paint, some brighter than others, and interspersing odd starburst. Check out @kielerpaintjob on Instagram. Shes done this effect on the ballgown on one of her models.

If you can get metal flake from an auto paint shop, mix w an acrylic medium and bam. Just make sure you get the finest grade (both size & qual) you can.

Glitter spray paint looks like it would be too thick for miniatures. And that second technique looks like it would be too tricky for me to pull off well, this is my first army.

I think the glitter spray would layer fine. It's not like kids glitter. Metal flake is going to be more expensive.

Drybrush with metallic with some makeup brush or something like that. Just instead of moving brush from one side to another carefully stamp dots on the dress.

You can also get irridescent medium. It's quite thick but some lahmium added can thin it out nicely.

My wife sometimes gets her nails done and she gets a neo chrome colour, it turns out that it's a power what activates when the gel sets.

It may be possible to either mix it with medium or apply it to the mini then clear coat it

I don't really know, you should do it on some paper or some thing first to see if it looks good, but i think what you are saying would work. You could also maybe sprinkle the glitter on top of it after applying what ever the glitter is capable of sticking too.

Good luck, hope it works out how you want it.

Not done it mysef, but I've seen it done plenty of times on DMsCraft on Youtube. He uses it for ice effects. Glitter glue is literally pva and glitter mixed together, it'll dry clear and give a sparkly effect when dry.

Look into the Mica powders, iridescent etc.. We use them a lot for coloring our resins and such.. 20 grams will go a LONG way for what you're using it for. There's also the micro-fine glitters in case Mica is too fine..

Rybrook has a good idea there in looking at nail varnish acrylics - they are producing glittery, colour change and opalescent effects we can use. A little dilution may be needed but we are used to that!

Might as well take advantage of another markets work!

Vallejo does metallic colors in their Mecha line (which is just fine for painting minis) and Metallic Medium, which you can add to paints or inks to make your own sparkly colors!

If yuou're just looking for a real shiny look to it I once saw a guy who had really shiny looking purple 'nid carapeices that APPARENTLY (if my meory serves) acheived the effect by painting a very thin layer of the water effect over the carapiece.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

You could look at Iridiscent Medium. Works wonders on metallic Primaris armor.
