Hi there, my name is Scott and I have been playing one game or another since 1994. Mostly CCG's and then eventually LCG's and board games. I have a lot of board games with miniatures, so I started painting. I've painted the complete line of Mice and Mystics, and I've painted Zombicide prison break and black plague. So far I have about 60% of Batman Gotham City Chronicles painted.

I started off painting by just buying brushes and putting color onto minis, I watched two or three videos and was like ok, I get this and that's how I painted for about two years. But when I got my Batman stuff I was like, ok I want this to look really good, so I started diving deep into the hobby of painting. While doing this I kept coming across a lot of videos that focus primarily on Warhammer in the tutorials. I've known about Warhammer for years, and I'd seen the tables set up with all the terrain at the shops I went to and from time to time a particularly cool scene would catch my eye. There is a store I believe in Illinois that I went in that had a full battle of Helm's Deep built on a table, it was amazing.

But so far I had never been interested in it until I was watching these videos and hearing people talk about the lore of Warhammer while they showed the techniques they used to paint these figures. Through all this, I fell in love with the orks! I loved the way they looked. I loved the mix of cybernetics and mechs and how it was all slapped together to look ridiculous yet brutally awesome at the same time. So I started buying orks. I now have a nice little set of orks to play around with. By play around, I mean to paint and convert and do whatever I want with, because I still have not played the actual game and wasn't initially sure if I ever would. Now that I have them though, I feel like I would at least like to try it after I get done making them look how I want them to look.

Also...sorry they are upside down. Not sure how that happened.

With that being said...I was wondering if I could get some help. I bought a bunch of stuff and I'm trying to figure out exactly what all I have. I know I got a really good deal based off of the prices I checked for retail, but a lot of it was still on the sprues and there were no instructions, which was fine as I said I planned on just building them to look cool for myself. But I would like to know what they are so I could have a frame of reference, so if someone could help me out that would be cool.

So you have, top-bottom
2 easy to build ork boyz, a nob partially built from the boyz box (claw), another boy with a claw.
2 boyz sprues, you can build 2 tankbustas too from those. Or it's the same, duplicated?
4 burna boyz and 1 partially built burna boy, if you miss the bits you can still convert him in another boy
3 shoota boyz.

In the very least you could play Kill Team once these are painted!
Orks are awesome, and rewarding for beginners and expert painters in my opinion because you can paint them simply and they work, but they also benefit from weathering, rust or any similar effect!

That's actually very cool to know. As I have been building and painting and I have become more interested in the game itself and am considering giving Kill team a try.

Do you have other parts left from the loota/burna box? you should be able to built 1 loota perhaps. Or use the boy with the Big Shoota.
Also I could be mistaken, the second claw ork could be an actual nob. Do you have a betetter pic of that?
You could use the two clawed guys in KT as Nob with Power Klaw and Kommando Nob with PK!

I bought a small lot from a guy, it was:

1 box meganobz
1 box stormboyz
1 box burnas/lootas
2 boxes of boyz
6 warbikes

I also had a friend buy me a bunch of bits and a few units from Gencon, near as I can tell its one nob, a bunch of boyz, and a bunch of orks from Rogue Trader

I think you need some HQ and grots.
FYI you can still find the assault on black reach warboss on ebay for $10-15 sometimes. I prefer it to the one sold (Grukk), but others prefer Grukk.

Yes. Warboss, Weirdboyz, Big Mek etc.
You can search in dakka tactics and other discussion threads to know about the units.
Fair warning: some people (sometimes me included) are very vocal about specific rules and units, especially in light of competitive play gaming.
This should never, EVER detract you from enjoying your models and the causal games with your friends. For those, the models will do fine. Use these threads as a way to identify a theme you can build your army on.

Ya, I know how I am, if I got to the point where I was actively playing I would be playing to be competitive, which is upsetting me today because I believe I've already made an illegal unit. I built my first figure yesterday and it was from my meganobz set and I thought a power claw looked cool as well as a saw, and from what I'm seeing it should have been two saws or a gun and claw, but not a claw and saw...

It really depends from your aims. There are people that build models only for display, therefore the legality is not an issue.
