Wasn't the Penitent engine a Sister that failed something awful? Not saying that thing isn't female, but unless GW altered their " PG 13" rating, I'm saying that's a dude.
Also, it looks WAAAAY more....penitent. He's really getting punished for not singing loud enough in church. The old one just seems to be a white robed sister driving her Mecha.
Penitent Engines carry criminals so hopped up on trugs and mental torture that they seek death in combat versus another moment of living. They aren't Sisters that failed, they're the worst heretics the Imperium can offer.
Sisters who fail tend to become Repentia who seek redemption through martyrdom, while the Penitent Engines are more like people seeking death to escape the pain of living strapped to that thing.
So its basically a bigger arcoflagellant then? Interesting. I thought the lore was that the engine was used for Repentia who really done goofed.

My only complaint about the new kit - and it is a minor one - is that both feet aren't in contact with the base in some capacity.
I've had too many Dreadnoughts and Sentinels develop ankle issues to be comfortable with a plastic model in that sort of pose.
Other than that, it looks a great move from metal/Finecast to plastic.

That is a great point. I know I hate "running" models because they are a B to make stay.
I am sure you can cut up some sprue to be "debris" for the model to be stepping on. Or better yet, a daemon carcass!

The best thing they've done with this new Sisters line is not feth around too much with the original aesthetic.

I thought they where trying for better scaled aesthetics' with new releases. That penitent engine guys hands and feet look way to huge for me.

Honestly, I don't like the new penitent. It's proportions and positioning make me thinks of some kind of cartoon comedy sidekick robot that waddles over the battlefield.
With the old model I got the feeling that I was looking at a working machine (albeit a twisted one), and i don't know why, but I don't get that vibe from the new one.
And the wood parts just seem kind of silly; I know 40k is built on this kind of silly, but other silly stuff mostly comes down to bizare baroque decoration, while this just seems like they built a wooden robot.

I really, really hope that they don't change the Exorcist much... one of my favorite models in 40K.

Anyone else notice the new PE seems a lot smaller than its predecessor. That thing looks like it’s on a 50mm base.
But yes. This stuff is the epitome of what the armies of the imperium should be.

I didn't like the old model.
This one beats the new Marine offering by a mile.
The new box is going to make GW stock jump.
