Had the foam case on a chair, slipped putting him a cell, and he shattered on hitting the floor--cheap etsy 3d print is brittle. Steel washer base probably didn't help.

Oh no.
It would be interesting to do a test. Coat the brittle resin cast with maybe 2 layers with wood varnish and drop it, see if it adds enough durability.

At least the fox now has a cool back story.

It'd be on some other guy, I lost enough peices here. Not sure it'd do much for brittle. He and his buddy are done though:

And I found my microworld rats, so started a second infantry platoon, as that seems to be more the speed of usable E:A steel legion lists:

We'll see what gets done at paint night.

Got some paint down, everything kinda coming along.

Rats got a color:

Mechs got two:

Got the lizard rider from last week almost there:

And started and made good progress on a gnoll:

A little spare time this week, hoping it lets me get some of them fully done...

Made in us
Utilizing Careful Highlighting

Got the 6mm rats done at least:

Also got a game of Wargods in, against some sebeki. Some hard fought stuff, but my decision to try to lead with my harbinger saw her pinched out and killed, breaking half my army, where we called it.

And at paint night, got the gnoll pretty close to done:

(Just need to decide if I'm TMM or NMM ing the weapons and armor...)

Also got the battlemechs close to done:

And made good progress on the 6mm tanks from a few weeks back:

Hopong to sneak in at least one for the year, but if not, just starts next year quick.

Got a little silly new years eve, got a bunch of basing done.

Lyran company got completed out:

Did the finish touches on the dark elf lizard rider:

Likewise a demonkin paladin from a bit back:

Also based up the tanks:

And finally made the plunge on the yetis:

Making them the last minis for the year for me, at 473.

On the resolutions from last year:

Going forward, kinda aborted tracking my purchases last year fairly early, would like to do paint more than I buy this year, or at least get a handle on how much I'm picking up. On the other hand, need to actively resist number go up more--probably still be doing a fair bit of speed paint just because of the number of projects I want to do, but some of those legions guys were more for quota. Kinda want to do at least a bust this year, and consider entering crystal brush at historicon--dunno if the time will be there. Likewise, want to try to get an opfor for wargods running--have several options, just gotta get some units to finished.

Pretty much all failed. Got a little off track in fall on tracking purchases, but at least have ballpark numbers, and I didn't quite keep up (my sheet is showing 443, but its missing some multibase 10 and 15mm stuff that I wasn't sure of the final base count on), but two of them are WGA dwarfs that're at least 15 each). Also failed hard on painting slower but better--last year was 379. I've made a start at a bust and a few larger scale display models, but nothing finished, and don't really feel I got anything to a level that wouldn't be insulting to put in to a competition. Wargods did get a few bits, but nothing amounting to another force. Did get some games of it in though!

Probably do the hobby bingo and some stat checks, plus plans for the year a little later.

FOUR HUNDRED and SEVENTY THREE in a year??

I've always known you were productive but thats a huge number. Lots of good stuff happening too - the blending on the paladin's shield is great, as are the scales and the skin for the lizard rider. The battletech mechs look great all together too.

Congrats on a big year mate, and for managing to get some games in too! All the best for more in 2026.

Thanks tzurk! Just ended up chasing a bunch of games, was hoping to try to up quality instead.

So ran the numbers, big winner last year was battletech, at 141 models. Warmaster got 100, d&d had 89, then we drop off sharp to bfg at 39, epic/LI had 33, 14 for wargods, 13 for quar, and for burrows and badgers plus generic furry fantasy stuff. Bunch of other misc things like the squiddo peegs, including, sadly, that 40k beat warmachine this year (in my painting line) 2 models to 1.

Did get a hobby bingo and pretty full square though:

Also took a pic of the battletech collection in the new display case:

This year, I think I'm mostly carrying forward last years goals: paint more than buy, try to work on quality and consider entering an in person painting contest, plus try to have a not-basti army done for wargods at the next of historicon or fall-in I attend.

Got the first model for the year done with the gnoll:

Mosly happy with him, but the glow did't really work on the rings. Pointers on him in general or that specifically would be appreciated.

Tuesday paint night, finally got around to an old ghost bear warhawk I had sitting around:

And did a pair of jade falcon delta galaxy mechs:

Specifically doing them to go with finally finishing some half done other falcon mechs I had, plus some more generic camo boys:

Also starting a random for fun warmachine dwarf:

(And also assembled some 6mm wraithknights that might end up being my challenge mini for the month..)

Plus started on some transports for the 6mm rats from last month:

So, hopefully a decent start to the year.

Mechs got done:

Also the APCs in a long push monday:

And at paint night, started an ogre magi:

Made some progress on the 6mm wraithknight proxys:

And finally made more progress on the typhon spears (if only I can find their shields...)

Feeling like good progress so far, but stay-cation helped, we'll see how it rolls forward.

...oops, forgot to get back around to posting here last week. Decent progress report.
First batch of typhon got down during last week to needing basing and me finding where there sheilds got off to in the last decade or so...

So at paint night, continued bringing the next set up to standards:

also did the oni some more on details:

and made some progress on the to-be-wraithknights:

During the week, tossed off a test paint for some 8mm marines in the RT salamanders scheme:

not feeling it any better than the Emperor's children scheme, but at least we know now I could.

also assembled some more LI stuff, this time mechanicum and solar aux artillery:

(those bots legs are...bad. tiny contact patch, flat mounted. Ick)
and also finished up the wraithknights (may need to freehand some sheilds...)

and the 2nd batch of typhon, again minus basing and sheilds:

Put some Burrows and Badgers on deck, and maybe some mechs. We'll see where we get.

Slow week, no paint night due to ice and snow, meant I was distracted and cleaning, but some progress to show.

Got some LI aech bots assembled:

Some basic color ideas down on the oathsworn stuff:

And did some conversions on some cgl pvc mechs, converting a stock forcepack firemoth into an H model, and a crusader into an -8S or -9S depending on my damage vs range feelings for the day:

Actually primed them after, we'll see what gets done at paint night.

Hen harrier down to basing at paint night:

Didn't get any on the hedgehog as I got most of the way into 9 mechs:

Still some highlights, detail and edging to go, but pretty satisfied with the progress.

The feathers came out well, did you use dry brushing on them?

Also, Blue Oni is best oni!

Had some time off, so bit of a busy one this week.
Built some more admech:

Also tried a color scheme, need to figure out basing, but liking the colors:

Also got the basing done on the lyrans:

And then the Jade Falcons:

Also tried a conversion to make a cgl plastic into another variant, in this case a mad dog into a c configuration with two gauss rifles:

Went out and got a game of classic in:
[/url

_sm-Battletech.jpg[/img]

And at paint night, did up the conversion and some other ghost bears:

And primed some wargods.

Hopefully get the basing machine working this week.

Utilizing Careful Highlighting

Well, did some basing at least.
Finished ghost bears:

And a closeup on the finished mad.dog conversion:

And built and painted up some thanatars for LI:

Paint night, mostly getting stuff base coated:

Some progress made on the typhon and their shields, and another set of lyrans getting the solid colors set. Gotta get on puttying up my challenge entry...

Nice work on all the mechs. Makes it hard not to grab some to paint. But we all know where that slippery slope leads.

How do games scale? 4 mechs might be a lance, but at a fixed tonnage. When we played back in the day, we’d set a weight limit and build armies from there. But it was mostly cardboard standees, with some heavy metal from Ral Partha for the ones we owned. So it was easier to swap around.

And from a casual glance it looks like mechs are sold in boxes, which is not cool if you only want a specific one out of it.

The current system for balancing is generally BV2.0, somewhere between 5-9k is usual, though its not uncommon to also give other limits like "maximum 6 units" ( for the clan and comstar fans) or specific era forces and limits per masterunitlist.info on era (which also has official bv2.0 and pv for alpha strike values.)

Standees are still valid (theres been only minor rules changes other than new late timeline gear to CBT mech rules since the 90s though more to infantry and vehicles, and theres a big update planned before gencon to try to soften known pain points), and ral partha went OoB and sold to ironwind metals for metal singles. They tend to be a touch expensive, so most newer people getting in to battletech get PVC mechs (like most of the ones I'm painting) from catalyst game labs in ForcePacks, 4-6 mech assortments or 8 vehicles in a box with alpha strike stat cards (with some having 6 month barnes and noble exclusivity.) Fixed sets, but the price for ones without jumping effects or prepaints is pretty decent, and even those are less than a box of space marines IIRC ($50 at my FLGS). Won't pretend I haven't skipped buying one because it only had one mech I was interested in though. Occassionally they also do blind boxes but admittedly not much better.

Some progress for the week:

Assembled the next thanatar set:

And had some spare time, so threw together a $5 bits bash out of the store I was at's bits bins:

Also got the last lyran batch done:

And started another set, including another minor gun conversion, this time to a loki g:

We'll see what gets done tonight

Mostly mechs tonight:
Lyrans and kuritans ready to base up:

And some modest progress on shields and mechamicum:

Utilizing Careful Highlighting

Over the week, got the combine stuff done:

Also the Lyrans:

Started another set of lyrans:

And did up an artillery mech:

Just needs basing I think.

Paint night wise, got some paint on the lyrans, and made a bit of shield progress:

And did a couple one off reaper minis beasties, an ice dragon:

And a war dog

Hoping to finish off some stuff this week.

Did get some stuff done.
Artillery mech based up and finished:

and the whole artillery lance together:

also did up a set of lyrans:

and a closeup of the battle armor I need to post for the challenge:

also did up a War Dog from reaper, for a discord painting challenge:

and an Ice Dragon from the same:

and at paint night, did some smoke jaguar elementals that just need basing:

and then worked on some mechs and tanks for battletech--all blue guy's gonna be davion guard, a lance of draconis combine mechs, and some tanks for the lyran guard:

trying to keep rolling, we'll see how it goes.

Lots of nice progress. Dog turned out well.

Thanks nevelon!

Got the elementals done:

Mechs mostly stayed at the same place:

But did get the iron cheetah done, so the davion guard lance is done:

And started more kuritans:

Plus an Ontos so the rommels have lancemates

Hoping to finish some of that tonight, but it is starting to pile up and motivation out

Well, progress at least. Combine just needs logos and basing:

And I guess theres another layer on the steiners? Kinda running out of gas on them, but "battalion of mechs" isn't a terrible stop point.
