Subject: Why successor chapter models on bikes have combat doctrines when the codex does not?

Why wolfgaurd on bikes, priest on bikes and etc hace Angels of Death,,,, but nothing else from the space wolves codex, blood angels codex and etc do not .... ?
whats the point ?
|
As an aside, as "infinite" rolls is actually impossible even if the FAQ "allows" it, then it will always be a non-zero chance to pass them all. Eventually the two players will die. If they pass the game on to their decendents, they too will eventually die. And, at the end of it all, the universe will experience heat death and it, too, will die. In the instance of "infinite" hits, we're talking more of functional infinity, rather than literal.
RAW you can't pass the game onto descendants, permissive ruleset. Unless we get an FAQ from GW. |

The Angels of Death rule is given to almost all Space Marine units as far as I understand, but the Combat Doctrines part only works for Codex:Space Marine chapters. It's about the other rules that come with the Angels of Death rule.

Ok.
Because what it says is that only an army with every unit having combat doctrines gets them... so i guess their is a weird way to have a battleforged spacewolves army with everything on bikes that would have combat doctrines. like,,, you couldn't take a battalion or brigade,,, but its possible because of this .

Space Wolves do not get Doctrines.

Sounds like you are confusing Angels of Death with Combat Doctrines. Practically all SMs get Angels of Death, but the Combat Doctrine part of that does not apply to Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space wolves, Deathwatch, or any of their successors. The rest of Angels of Death still applies to them.

Because GW are lazy and it's easier to say "They have Angels of Death" and have 1/4 of it not do anything than to say "They have Shock Assault, ATSKNF and Bolter Discipline."

Combat doctrines is included in angels of death.
But yes, seems like GW just pulled a lazy on this one.

It may be future proofing. The special chapters are likely to have their own versions of Combat Doctrines eventually that will apply once GW gets us those rules. Although, I also could very easily be giving GW too much credit when it comes to that

I'm going with "laziness" since it is easier to say the units get Angels of Death and then state that the non-Codex Chapters don't get any benefit from Combat Doctrines than to say if C:SM then the unit gets A, but if these other Codexes then the units get Y.

I havn't seen anywhere that says only non-codex chapters can benefit from combat doctrines... just that every model in the army needs to have it for it to work... Their is a weirdly bad space wolves list out there with too many bikers that can have combat doctrines XD.

"Designer’s Note: The Bolter Discipline ability is described in a previous update, and the Shock Assault ability can be found below. Combat Doctrines is a new ability exclusive to Codex: Space Marines – units in Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves or Deathwatch Detachments (or for Detachments of any of their successor Chapters) cannot currently make use of this ability"
From the FAQ released yesterday.

It's in the recently released Space Marines: Other Publications errata under the Angel of Deaths rule on page 2 in the Designer's Note. It clearly states that BA, DA, SW, and DW can not currently make use of Combat Doctrines. The "currently" I believe is the clue that this is future proofing for when they get their own versions of Combat Doctrines.

Ah, I read that as "they can't make use of it because they do not have the rule themselves"
But I see what your saying.

No. Angels of Death contains the Combat Doctrine component. That statement precludes that component from functioning for BA/ DA/ SW/ DW armies that take Index units.

Yes, I agree, that makes sense.
I was just pointing out where I made the mistake.
