Thinking of starting a chaos cult army, with lot of conversions.

Not sure what codex to use, not much for using the renegades and heretics codex, would prefer to use a more supported codex.
Thinking of using either astra militarum or genestealer cult, but not sure which codex would fit the best.

Not sure about models, the genestealer cult acolytes are nice, but so are the necromunda models, cawdor would fit really well, might just need some more weapons for them, might convert them to chaos cults.


Any ideas what would work, would love some inspiration.

I'd be tempted to use GSC rather than AM. You could use the more genestealery units (I'm not up on the names!) as either mutated or possessed cultists, and the Magus leader feels more appropriate for a chaos cult than a military general does, to me.

Of course, you can ally AM in with GSC if you want to.

there's been a LOT of persistant rumor of late of a "Lost and the Damned" codex. with a lotta people suspecting there might be one in 2020. I only mention this because it's worth considering. if you're the type of guy who'd get dischouraged to putting a lot of time and effort into it, only to have a new codex that represents your army throwing your army into a state of confusionb

Gsc, r&h dex is a shadow of itself and I doubt the new "servants of the abyss" will be capable of replacing what was lost thanks to gw Office politics.

Might wait for the codex, but hopefully the models i convert for it can be used in the new codex.

Then i might be able to use a chaos knight without having to ask my friends for permission

Imo, if you convert decently, kitbash decently and are not going into a gw store then nobody should have any issues.

Okay, gonna go with Gsc codex, think the amush rule and all the icons sounds fitting

Any ideas what to use for the other units like Hybrids, Metamorphs and Aberrants?

some icons/trophies and a headswap for the Jackals should be easy

monsters as spawn.
Snipers can be built in teams but step in as sancti etc.
