Subject: Question about UM strat "Martial Precisoion"

Tzeentch Veteran Marine with Psychic Potential

The text reads "Use this stratagem before resolving an attack made by an UM model from your army in your shooting phase. When resolving that attack, do not make a hit roll; it automatically scores a hit".
So weapons in the shooting phase have a number of shots, not attacks technically. My friend thinks this stratagem allows a model (aka stromraven) to auto-hit with all weapons it uses. I disagree and think that the wording specifically says "an attack" then uses "that attack" meaning single attack. In combat that would be easy because it would be one attack out of the X number attacks that are made (as combat actually uses attack). But I believe shooting uses shots not attack as the term. So does this stratagem auto-hit for all shots for one weapon "attack" or does it auto-hit for one shot which each shot counts as an attack, or does it allow all weapons to auto-hit as an attack (which would be super broken on a storm raven)? What are people's thinking on this? Thanks.

It's a single attack, so a single shot. A Heavy 3 weapon, for example, makes 3 attacks. The stratagem allows one of the attacks to hit, the others must roll to hit.
Also: Codex Supplement: Ultramarines FAQ wrote:Q. Does the Martial Precision Stratagem affect all attacks made by a weapon, or just one attack?
A: Martial Precision applies to a single attack made with that weapon.

Which is a great resource, but it's still a trial to find what you're looking for.
You should know-how many documents are required to play now?

pdfgrep is a great tool for searching though the FAQ pdfs! I do agree it's gotten beyond a joke.

Yea unfortunately, my opponent just got the book and forgot to print the FAQ for it to bring. I looked it up on my phone while playing, but couldn't find it.

Not at all true. "Each time a model shoots a ranged weapon, it will make a number of attaks. You roll one dice for each attack being made. The number of attacks a model makes with a weapon...is found on the weapon's profile, along with the weapon's type." (Rulebook p179)
This makes it very clear that the stratagem affects the roll of a single dice.
