Is there an opposing faction (SM/CSM) that has a different ideology compared to the Iron Hands and their distain for the flesh? Emperor's Children seem to fit the bill with their attachment to pain and pleasure, but wanted to see what you guys thought.

Thanks.

Not the same, but the alternative is the iron snakes. Instead of the flesh is weak. The flesh and gene seed are valued to point of sqaud level apoachery support.

Not just company, but the main veteran battle line sqauds each have there own.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

You won't find an ideological opposite to the Iron Hands within any Marines or Chaos Marines, simply by virtue of the fact that to become a Space Marine requires many implants. You literally can't be one with a lot of artificial organs being implanted into you, not least of which is the black carapace which is required for full integration into power armour.

That said, space wolves is probably the closest you'll get. They often shun helmets as they believe it dulls their spider sense.

Death Guard maybe, while Iron Hands become more mechanically Death Guard mechanics become more biologically, everything starts to live and grow. Their engines are weak so to say and rot to the flesh.
Ironically it leads to both having similar qualities, being slow, durable and using Dreadnoughts. Though DG dislike vehicles overall.

To be fair, it does. The Space Wolves gene seed gives them augmented hearing and smell; which wearing a helmet would naturally limit their ability to use.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

Iron warriors.
Forge the flesh, bind the metal and embody the daemon.

Basically all things are weak until you propperly combine it into daemon, engine, soul body things.

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

EC are really the best "opposite", but would be more accurately a "parallel"

They don't necessarily value flesh over metal, but most "pleasures" are flesh related.
But I'd call them parallels rather than opposisted because both value "perfection", they just see perfection in different ways.
It also helps that both Legion's Primarchs were besties until Fulgrim turned to Chaos

Word Bearers would be it.

Iron Hands see the perfection of machinery as a higher state of being. They seek to abandon the flesh with replacement parts made of metal.

Word Bearers see the Daemonic as a higher state of being. They seek to transcend the mortal realm and more fully embrace all aspects of the immaterium.

As much as the Emperor's Children crave the heights of sensation, they are the middle of the road.

I like the death guard suggestion. IH focus on mechanical augmentations, DG focus on 'enhancing' their bodies with more meat. It's the logical opposite.

Funny thing is, DG are objectively correct, as they tend to be T5 with 5+ FNP, as opposed to IH T4 6+ FNP.

The opposite of Iron Hands is fluffy feet. A little known successor chapter to the Ultramarines.

My ill-informed thoughts.

Emperor's Children - Their obsession with sensation is opposed to the "detachment" of machinery.

Iron Warriors - They seek to corrupt machinery with the daemonic and enslave machines, putting themselves above machines. Iron Hands seek to become one with the machines, on a basis of equals.

White Scars and Space Wolves - Both chapters seem to value a sense of freedom and being one with nature... kind of. They enjoy the hunt, being in the moment. The feeling of being *alive*. Hands? Not so much.

Death Guard - The flesh is weak, so embrace it, become inured to the weakness. Instead of fearing decay, embrace decay, and enjoy your freedom from fear. I would say they are the dark mirror to IH. Not so much opposite as a different "solution" to the same problem.

Thousand Sons - have, for the most part, lost their flesh. Amusingly, they kind of embody the desired state of the Iron Hands... be careful what you wish for...

Word Bearers - seek to merge their bodies with the daemonic, again, corrupting the flesh to make it stronger instead of replacing it.

I would say that the Emp's Children are the most attached to the sensations of flesh. Embracing both pleasure and pain... pain being the weakness of the flesh. They do not fear the pain and weakness, nor do they fear the corruption of the body. Their overblown passion for sensation, of being *literally* in touch with their surroundings, rather than removed and analyzing the situation, is the reason I'd say they're the most ideologically opposed marines.

This made my day lol.

On a more series note the main one I can think of is the Rout. Space Wolves driven to their logical conclusion are nearly entirely organic (ish) with little need for armor or any other kind of tech to fight. On the other hand the Iron Hands would probably take the same deal the necrons took if they could.
