So just a quick question on Armenneus Valthex. His Battle Alchemistry rule buffs the strength of boltguns and Storm bolters within 6” by +1 to a max of Strength 5. My question is whether or not this applies to twin boltguns? I know this rule is more specific so I’d assume no since it doesn’t say bolt weapons, but I figured it’s worth an ask since it does have the word boltgun in it. Thanks.

It does not. A Twin Boltgun is not a Boltgun, the same way that a Heavy Bolter is not a Boltgun, or a Heavy Flamer is not a Flamer.

It's a little stupid but that's Forge World for you.

Also, as friendly advice, it helps to mention which book the rules you are asking about are from, especially if they are Forge World books. Not everyone has encyclopedic knowledge of rules sources like I do.

A twin boltgun is two boltguns taped together for all intents and purposes. I think it is common sense that anything affecting a boltgun would also affect a twin boltgun. Still, if you are determined to follow RAW to the letter then it does not seem to be allowed.

And down that road lies madness. It's "common sense" that my Flamer cannot hit an Ork Fighter-Bomber aircraft flying 15 kilometres up and travelling at Mach 69, but it still can. It's "common sense" that a Lasgun should never be able to penetrate Terminator Armour, but it does 1/6th of the time. It's "common sense" that Plasma Guns should not be scared of Blue Eldar at Night, but they are. It's "common sense" that Space Marines should be more durable than Guardsman, but they aren't.

What is "common sense" is irrelevent to what the rules actually say. If you allow one rule to be ignored, you cannot remain logically consistent and non-hypocritical unless you allow ALL rules to be ignored. Given the choices of following all rules or following no rules, I think most people would prefer to follow all rules. 40k is (presumably) a wargame, not a DnD style role playing game.

Agree with BCB here. It doesnt affect it. As BCB said a twin boltgun is not a boltgun, its a TWIN boltgun.

Ideally confirm with the player before the game, i would allow it in a friendly as imo its RaI, but RAW written no. In an organised event i would get a TO to rule on it.

It does not apply.

In a friendly game, I'd probably be willing to let it apply, but in a tournament or a more competitive game, I would not, since that's against the rules.
