i started the hobby with forgotten realms well before i had ever seen a GW product, the first being an joint project between MB and GW- space crusade, and heroquest. it was almost decade later (in 91) i saw these games, as well as another- battlemasters, with battlemasters, and those few figures from the other two games, got me into painting the miniatures. badly. and i haven't really improved much since, and never really liked painting miniatures at all. so i was painting them up in what i thought were good schemes, but in oil paints not acryllic paint. then skip to around 1995/1997 ish and it's my birthday. i go to my FLGS, a toyworld or toys'r'us store, i forget which as one replaced the other and the one that was newer, well became my FLGS as well. so i guess it doesn't matter. i bought the 2nd edition 40k box set. and also i bought the then edition for warhammer fantasy. while i have always loved military stuff, and espcecially futuristic- my main love for the hobby was fantasy miniatures, this went on for another decade or so. until they done sigmar and the end times. since that point i haven't been much into painting or gaming much (hence my name here- i play warhammer by myself as my kitbashing/scratchbuilds are often a bit on the nose, and i wont disagree using them against myself) but have been almost exclusively into butchering miniatures for my Blanchian quest to alter all my models in some grimdark way or other. what i hope to do here on dakka is to provide ideas for conversion and kitbashing and for a hosting service for my creations. also i'm here to loot your ideas. because orks say it best: "letz get lootin".

armies i actively collect-
chaos space marines
imperial space marines
orks
sisters of battle
lost and the damned/imperial guard DIY regiment (full of cyborgs and mutants, the kind not sanctioned by IoM)

armies i used to collect actively-
tau
tyranids
dark eldar
necrons
bretonnians
tomb kings
whfb "empire"
orcs and goblins
skaven

armies i own currently-
ork speed freekz/kan wall
3 space marine armies with around 75ish marines in each.
3 chaos space marine armies with similar as imperial marines.
lost and the damned- an army i am making by butchering every model i own not a (imperial) space marine. and that numbers well past 500 miniatures.

i have been on/off in the hobby and actual gaming with others within the last 25-27 years. mostly off. but i continue to make custom miniatures and kitbashing, as that's my main interest in the hobby.
and few competitiors to GW, and their hobby come close to the customization of warhammer products.

i also am an avid kayak fisherman too as well as a semi-professional photographer, with experience in being an editor for a newspaper, a proofreader, and also involved in co-running a media outlet (radio, video editing, and work experience in the field of advertising), now however i am retired early to enjoy life how i see fit- that is to make models.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

IceAngel wrote:I must say Knightley, I am very envious of your squiggle ability. I mean, if squiggles were a tactical squad, you'd be the sergeant. If squiggles were an HQ, you'd be the special character. If squiggles were a way of life, you'd be Doctor Phil...

got a ork thread on here, "solohammers waaagh!" and another "solohammers "not marine" chaos space marine army".

also slowly getting myself a plasticard warhound titan, among these things i am also making a dark mechanicus type force too.

here is one of a pair of "servohaulers".

and these are some infantry of some kind for my dark mechanicus.

majority of stuff i do is kitbashing/scratchbuilding.
