Of the three cinematics I've seen from Blizzard today, this is the one I enjoyed the most.
But, of course, there's no actual plot in the game it's for...
Edit -
This is on the official website -
Current Overwatch players will battle side-by-side with Overwatch 2 players in PvP multiplayer; they’ll also be able to play Overwatch 2 heroes and maps.
That would *seem* to suggest that all of the Overwatch 2 maps and heroes will be available in PvP only for owners of the original Overwatch.
Further clarification is needed on that.

The Parisians actually speaking French was a subtle but nice touch.
And I know people say this game has no plot, but this feels like it's a direct sequel to the trailers for the first game... like we've only moved forward five minutes in time?
I think it's gonna be like special co-oppve missions and stuff. I'd love to get a whole campaign story mode thing. For me PVP gets too old after a while, mostly cuz I suck. But I really love the overwatch universe and look & feel and stuff.

It could be. IIRC, the only characters that directly responded to Winston's original broadcast were Tracer (in the trailer), and Mei (in her own animated short, it's directly responsible for waking her up).
Mind you, the bad guy focus in the original trailers was Talon, a human organization. In this trailer, it's Null Sector, a radical AI terrorist group.
Of course, advancing the story one game release at a time isn't going to get very far...

Yeah, it feels like the first Overwatch was more establishing who the characters were and why Overwatch was disbanded to begin with, while OW2 is more or less when they actually start doing crap together.
Was it disbanded because they kept trying to kill each other for no reason at all? Because it felt like they fought each other a lot, and whatever the backstory was, it didn't actually matter.

I'm actually creeped out by the fact that Mei looks frighteningly young, even younger than she did in the first game. Why are they dragging this kid into battle with them?
And the Overwatch community has produced a staggering amount of porn, and she's a 'fan favorite.'
Watching it made me feel like a fair number of folks need to be arrested.

After watching the trailer, I started poking around the site. A number of the comics and animated shorts made for the first game are there (all in a timeline), though I think I remember at least a couple that I didn't see featured there. In any case, one of the animated shorts is Mei's backstory, starting with her team going into cryo. She looks pretty much the same in that video as she did in the trailer for the new game.

Nah, it's fine. Cartoons have no age, they're not alive.
