Hello everyone! Long time no posts!

I'm posting because I've decided that I was really not happy with the overall quality of the narrative portions I have written so far, and so I have been going back to the drawing board, so to speak, starting with the original volume in the series. I am also trying to make sure I have enough content in each of these volumes to guide actual missions and board design. So, I am looking for as much help as I can get with the narrative and backgrounds!

For those who don't remember, the first volume is called the Death of Proxion, and concerns the struggles of the Astra Militarum against the forces of Hive Fleet Laelaps as well as a Genestealer Cult uprising. RIght now I am re-writing the part of the campaign that takes place on the moon Jana, analogous to modern Titan in environment. I have re-written a good amount of it, making the narrative more character-driven. However, right now I am at a bit of a creative block and could use suggestions on multiple things.

First thing is the background for the regiment. I am trying to make a Regiment that is effectively the Regiment of the entire sector - that way I can justify using the same paint scheme (and thus re-using models) in future campaigns. However, I definitely need help making sure their background seems reasonable, and while unique does not feel like it's trying too hard. I also definitely need ideas for a paint scheme, as I have no ideas and could use some inspiration! Since I want to include art in these volumes, I need to know what to do for that!
Second thing is the layout of particular facilities such as the primary facility at which the dam battle takes place. This sort of information helps me write because I know where characters are, where they need to go, and what they will be passing through on their way there. So any help with that part of things would be great! I am planning on hopefully making makeshift "maps" of each of these spots, as they do in stuff like Imperial Armour.
Here is a link to what I have so far, feel free to give any other feedback as well! Note that the narrative from the break in page 40 onward is going to be completely re-written, so just ignore from there until the end of the narrative portion. Also, the army lists and whatnot for the latter part of this campaign (the ones involving the Genestealer Cults) are from 7th edition and will be completely re-done once I get the first part of the campaign finished.

Thanks for any feedback!

the campaign is on the moon atm, The regiment wouldn't work ever with cadian models, you'd have to give the whole regiment protective clothing and especially masks.

Snow would require water, so basically you could go for a look like Hoth snowtroopers from star wars but in green, grey etc. So, technically beyond the stations the planet could be used for Training, around the cryovolcano you could train winter warfare. on the rest probably aswell.

I'd imagine that due to the easier availability and cost the stations would probably be closer to the cryovolcanos to harvest water cheapper. (also warmer leading to less expenditure in energy for heat)

If you give the planet a volcanic ring, which is more habitable you could go for a rather simple approach further the valleys and mountains/ volcanos would lead to more varied terrain.

Heck you could even go so far that a protected valley might even have only -100 degree celsius.

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

Nope. You what you need is the force field belt from the 70s Star Trek animated series.
The creators wanted space suits for use outside the ship/certain planets/etc. But they were too complex to draw. Thus a squiqqly line around characters as needed, emanating from their belts, kept Kirk & Co. safe in hostile enviroments.
No reason this BS won't work in 40k.

So paint up your Guard in whatever scheme pleases you & claim they have magic belts.

Thanks for the feedback! I definitely plan on using some sort of hostile environment gear, as the temperatures on Jana are roughly -180C Main issue would be figuring out models to use. Also, on other planets they will be fighting in completely different environments, some of which are not as hostile, so I will use different models for different environments, just keeping the main paint scheme so that I can conserve models where possible. I could always come up with a lore reason for them to be wearing whatever full gear they're wearing so I can use the same models in any environment, so any ideas on this front are appreciated!

As for volcanoes, they are cryovolcanoes that erupt icy water rather than molten rock. As for harvesting water, the crust of the moon is actually water ice (when ice gets to that frigid temperature, it acts like rock does here on hearth), so it is not a limiting resource.

Anyways, general feedback on the fluff of the regiment as I have it, as well as the distribution and layout of particular facilities would be much appreciated! Also any thoughts on what I've written so far would be great!

-BUMP-

Still looking for feedback on narrative, and background fluff for the regiment! If anyone would be interested in contributing by helping to make maps of facilities or of planets, feel free to let me know! Also feel free to make use of any scenarios I use in these books for your own games, and let me know how they go!

Any help is appreciated!

Bumping again as I have still not received any feedback on narrative or background fluff for my campaign, and could really, REALLY use some! Any input is very helpful!

Maybe the Imperial presence in this Titan-like moon is confined to the interior of gigantic industrial hive-cities. They're sunk deep into the ice crust to help protect from the elements, and harvest water ice and liquid hydrocarbons to fuel their own plasma generators and export to the wider imperium.

The result of much of this harvesting is countless thousands of miles of caverns and tunnels, in various states of oxygenation, temperature, and structural soundness. Some might be fully supported mining depots with heat, lighting, and reinforced walls--creating a balmy Siberian-winter kind of environment rather than the lethal surface conditions.

Thus you could have urban give terrain, industrial sectors, and ice wastes that could all host battlefields with their own grimdark hazards. And you wouldn't need to have pressure-suited Guardsmen wading through methane lakes all the time.
