Subject: [Written] 2k Ork Speed Freeks vs Ultramarines 2.0
Big Mek (Index): Choppa, Grot Oiler, Kustom Force Field
Big Mek W/ Shokk Attack Gun: Big Killa Boss, Da Souped-up Shokka, Grot Oiler, Shokk Attack Gun, Warlord
The mission is Decapitation Strike (Maelstrom) from CA 2018
I win the roll-off and pick the Dawn of War deployment and start deploying on the side with the most cover because the last thing I want is primaris in cover.
Warbikers are deployed underneath the bridge, so they can threaten the entire right side of the board while being out of sight for most of them. Warboss is deployed near them for advance and charge, as well as a KFF mek to protect them if the initiative gets stolen. Bonebreaka and Scrapjet are also deployed on this flank to balance threads on both sides so my opponent can't easily deny a flank - marines really like to do that. The two kustom boosta blastas are deployed in the middle for a lack of better alternatives and because I want their primaris-shredding rivet cannons available no matter where they deploy.
Spoiler:
I deploy the bonebreaka with the boyz inside so it can easily get a turn 1 charge on anything on the other side of the bridge, along with the wartrike to allow advance and charge. The SSAG and Morkanaut are deployed in a way that they can either shoot anything deployed on the left side or move first turn and then shoot at most of the board besides the right corner (where the warbikers and the scrapjet are going). The Shokk-jump Dragsta gets deployed on the side to mirror the scrapjet as anti-tank asset.
Spoiler:
Ultramarines try to hide as much out of sight as possible inside the ruin right across the bridge, as well as some scouts and taleon near two objectives.
Turn 1: Orks The Ultramarines fail to seize and I get first turn, he decides to put everyone in cover. Bikes move 31" across the board and end up in the middle of the ultra marines, with one bike slightly lagging behind to stay inside the warboss aura. I try to move the bonebreaka first and it gets a terrible advance roll, blocking the bridge for the KBB, wartrike and morkanaut following behind. Duh. The SJD jumps and lands right next to the TF cannon, but fails to kill it by one wound. SSAG moves up the ruin and takes six wounds of Chronos, Morkanaut does another four and the rokkit that would finish him off is bodyguarded by an honor guard instead, killing one of the two. The KBB in the center and warbikers kill three helblasters. All other shooting kills a few intercessors and a scout or two.
Spoiler:
The bonebreaka charges both intercessor squads with ramming speed and gets overwatched by half the UM army since they now have a stratagem that makes them tau. A lascannon hits it and deals four damage. Afterwards another stratagem allows Calgar to do a 6" heroic intervention to move into base contact with the bonebreaka. Its deffrolla wipes out the damaged intercessor squad, Calgar smashes the bonebreaka down to one wound. Warbikers charge and the killsaw manages to connect with Chronos, destroying the tank. In return the intercessors (especially the fist sergeant) kill a bunch of warbikers. Afterwards they consolidate 2d6 = 4" and arrest the surviving intercessors. Note that they technically can move, but not get everyone outside of 1" of enemy models.
Spoiler:
Turn 1: Ultramarines I don't remember what took the last wound of the bonebreaka, but I deployed its passengers underneath the bridge to hide them from sight. TF cannon didn't care and kills all but the nob. Eliminators don't care either and shoot the nob dead.
The helblasters are not to fond of the SJD trying to kill their cannon, so they blow it up. Apothecary revives the Vitrix Honor Guard with a command re-roll. Tech marine repairs 3 wounds on the TF cannon Leviathan tries to shoot the Morkanaut, but KFF saves the day. Scouts and Taleon fail lots of wound rolls against the warboss. Intercessors get buffed with -1 to hit by Tigurius and kill more warbikers. Killsaw gets another intercessor.
Spoiler:
Turn 2: Orks Well, I fethed up big this turn. The wartrike and the KBB had to advance and charge in order to make room for the bonebreak to roll the leviathan. However, after they had already committed to charging, the bonebreaka had a bad advance roll and there was no way it could reach the leviathan with a charge. When trying to make the best of it, the KBB killed the TF cannon with its rivet cannon and flamers and then charged the tech marine, taking a melta shot the face from him. The wartrike hit the leviathan with a melta, but bounced of the invulnerable save. He then proceeded to a spectacular 0 damage to the tech marine. Morkanaut bounced off the leviathan.
Spoiler:
On the other side of the board, my buggies move into shooting position and actually kill some stuff. The warboss tries to use the scouts as speed bump but instead fails to kill a single model and gets punched down to one wound by scouts At least the KFF mek keeps being a true evil sun and advances 5+5+2 Inches again, keeping the two buggies inside the force field. Despite this disaster I go a huge lead on VP due to being able to capture multiple objectives.
Spoiler:
Turn 2: Ultramarines Ultramarines go to tactical doctrine and become stationary all the time. Helblasters destroy the second bonebreaka, Gretchin inside hide under the bridge. Assorted characters destroy the KBB and the leviathan deletes the wartrike. Scouts fall back and shoot the warboss dead. I use my last two CP on orks is never beaten and he kills Taleon and all but two scouts. In retrospective, this was huge mistake, should have kept the CP for Moar Dakka on the morkanaut. Eliminators try to kill the KFF mek, but the Vile Trixx Honor Grot intercepts the shot. I have two discard two objectives which are kind of impossible anyways (kill a psyker and kill the enemy warlord).
The Vitrix Honor Guard moves to block the bridge, a bunch of characters pile into the warbiker combat and Calgar simply kills them all. Despite killing so much, he only gains 1 VP for charging with 3 or more units.
Spoiler:
Turn 3: Orks So, I'm faced with the problem that the only units I can shoot are the Victrix Honor Guard (2+/3++), four intercessors, eliminators (1+) and the leviathan (2+/4++/T8 and -1 to hit). In addition, I have no way of preventing the remaining helblasters and the leviathan from murdering my Morkanaut next turn besides luck. Therefore my plan was to gun down the intercessors and the honor guard and take down as many characters as possible with the two buggies. Failing that, the Morkanaut was trying to get a charge on the leviathan.
Long story short, both those plans failed. The intercessors got torn appart by the SSAG, the KBB kills the techmarine, but the honor guard simply refused to die, resisting all the shooting I had left . Since he was blocking the bridge, the Morkanaut could not reach the leviathan and thus was forced fight him, which he survived.
Gretchin under the bridge kill a helblaster! The KBB charged the apothecary for some mortal wounds, the scrapjet drilled the last two scouts dead.
Spoiler:
Feth that guy:
Spoiler:
Turn 3: Ultramarines Ultramarines do what they do best and fall back. Tigurius moves up to the naut and casts null zone, the Leviathan then hits it for 30 damage with AP-5. Calagar smash KBB. KBB goes boom and kills the apothecary, the honor guard and puts 3 wounds on Calgar. Take that!
Eliminators miss Big Mek.
Spoiler:
At this point I'm at 14 VP and my opponent at 6 with little means to score any of the cards he has drawn with almost no mobility left and no means to kill all my gretchin or means to catch my scrapjet should I chose to run away with it. He surrenders the game *phew*
Objectives scored by me:

7 Ork facts people always get wrong: Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other. A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot. Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests. Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books. Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor. Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers. Orks do not have the power of believe.
That's an Amazing looking Board Jidmah, Love the Dual level, and Good duffin of de Smurfs too.
DieHard 40K player. Primary Army: Goff/Deffskull Orks 18,000+ pts (And Growing Still, slowly)
Secondary army: Mentor Legion Space Marines, 4000 or so (heading for about 7-8000)
Tertiary army: Tau , eh bout 1750 or so, (someday 2-3000)

So, if I remove some units that didn't do so hot (bonebreakas=>battlewagons and boyz=>gretchin), I might now be able to fit two more buggies in there, or a bunch of koptas. IMO the biggest weakness of this list is bikes costing so many CP and points, let's see if PA does something about this.
I'll continue experimenting, because this way of running orks is extremely fun - it reminds me of the feel of 5th's edition battlewagon bash, except you now actually have shooting worth a damn.

Thanks, I'll forward the compliment to the guy who build it.
