Update 29th June 2020 Archon Studio June 29, 2020

Greetings Backers.

Let's start with the good news: We are down to the last set of terrain tools: Silos, and we are now working on the Tank CAD files!

https://v.kickstarter.com/1593616963_071b5b32b956b0b4c82f309477a931f831526052/assets/029/638/034/a4ada49cd595252f43b69e7fe39598f3_h264_high.mp4

https://v.kickstarter.com/1593616963_da2035f5a239b42cf803695e2b5b994b4d73e54b/assets/029/637/884/40b37ed17dd03ca223528879fd27cc75_h264_high.mp4

Please note, in the video, we show you the tank with battle damage, the final version won't have any battle damage.

Not so good news: shipping parcels to the USA and Canada...

FedEx, our designated company for shipping to USA and Canada, still has not lifted shipping restrictions. We can ship the only 100kg of parcels a day. Our other project, Dungeons and Laser, is fully delivered to all backers (except the USA and Canada.) If the situation with FedEx doesn't improve, we will still be shipping DnL parcels next month. This may affect shipping the USA and Canadian backers.

All non-US/Canada backers won't be affected by this, meaning that we will be able to start shipping once we have all products in stock.

The shipping date remains unchanged, so far, and we are aiming for the end of July as the shipping start date.

the tank is looking good with some nice interior detail, interesting they're also sculpting a battle damaged version.... wonder if that's just for fun or will also get sprues cut and a retail release

(oh and if anybody knows how to embed KS videos please let me know?)

Greetings Backers.

Our manufacturing department is reporting that the last tools are being in production for Rampart. As you can see in the video below. We are running columns and 1st add-on tool. What left is 2nd add-ons tool and the tank.

Unfortunately, we have to re-cut one of the tools (add-ons 2nd sprue) due to mistakes made by the machinist.

Engineering work on the tank took a bit longer than anticipated but we have made a lot of significant improvements. It's 1st time we are making such a large model and we need to be sure that everything fits and assemble perfectly. After all, it's 100 PARTS!

We also want to give you many customization options, thus, the tank won't have fixed detail and you can put any number of detail pieces on it.

1st Tank out of 3 is designed and it's going onto CNC machines next week.

Shipping.

The situation with FedEx is unchanged. Dungeons and Laser, our other Kickstarter, should be shipped by the 17th of July or earlier if FedEx unlocks USA shipping for Europe for economic parcels.

As we are still in the process of finishing the last tools for Rampart (three tank tools) we are estimating that we will be able to start shipping after the 14th of August(Europe) and 17th August for ROW including the USA.

We hope to improve that date and I'll keep you informing.

Ok, that's it for today. Once we have 1st injection shots I'll be back here to show you!

Thanks!

J@Archon

the sprue at the top, and the 2 tank images are videos so if you want to see them visit the KS page

Greetings Backers.

Last weekend I finally finished designing the Tank tools for CNC. Originally the plan was to have a maximum of 3 sprues, however, it turned out to be 5 tools in total. Here are the CAD screenshots. We have the first two tools on CNC and you can see them on the attached video.

https://d15chbti7ht62o.cloudfront.net/assets/030/019/459/a9234ea73ee632cb08a21979ea6b7df9_h264_base.jpg?2020
[video showing the tools etc, well worth a look]

Another 2 tools should be finished next week (Sunday) and then the last one, a small one, will be a 74h CNC run.

Once we have the 1st tool finished it will go into the injection machine so I should have the 1st sprues manufactured to show by next week, on Friday!

Tool 1

Tool 2

Tool 3

Tool 4

Tool 5

And the Silos next to Durkar! It's huge!

Silos!

Shipping: As per the previous update as soon as we have all 5 Tank tools in production the shipping will start!

Thanks

J @ Archon

the tank is nearly done, the image shows the parts tooled so far. CNC machine breakdowns are slowing down the finishing on the final mould but it's close

In "better late than never" news, my parcel from Archon arrived today. Sadly since I am moving house, I can't provide pics of the individual sprues but at least I can confirm they are delivering!

I hadn't twigged that basically everyone was getting the free tank. I will be converting that into a counts as Russ assuming it is an appropriate scale.

Got my package yesterday. Everything looks good, the stuff you got for 49$ really is something... Core Set, Tank, Starcide teaser minis, stretchgoals.

Got my stuff today and damn that's a lot of freebies. I ordered the Kazumi set + some odd single parts. Also got the tank, the stretch Goals and the Starcide teaser.

I so far only took a look into my Kazumi set and the tank, but both look pretty good in quality. Nice touch with the tank that he does have a designed interior for the crew and driver compartment as well as various hatches that can be kept open. Two details I appreciate specifically are that the front hatch looks rather thick as it should being in the front armor plate and that there seems to be a small round hatch at the floor (!) of the Driver compartment, so that he can get out if things go south.

I'm building the tank at the moment,

pretty nice but there are some issues it's worth knowing about before you start

1. the floor plate (7) and internal bulkhead (10) and the pegs on the loading ramp (8) are very snug fits and I found I needed to sand them down at the edges so make sure you dry fit before you go anywhere near the glue

even after sanding I broke off the pegs from the loading ramp trying to open/close it since you still need a tight enough fit that it doesn't flop open all the time so I need to come up with some sort of solution for my next one (make the pegs loose and add the nessesary friction to hold the door closed with several layers of paint?)

the broken pegs are an easy enough thing to fix with a pin vise and some paperclip wire if you want a movable door, otherwise I could have just glued it closed

also while the door in the internal bulkhead can be posed open there's no drivers seat (or control panel) in the cab so you may want to add something (if you keep it closed parts 12 & 13 can go in the bits box)

2. the frontplate (17) and armoured visor (21) are clearly meant to go together like the similar items in the GW rhino kit, but the visor is too thick to bend so I couldn't get the pegs into the holes to make it work so I just clipped the pegs off and glued it down

remember to paint the inside if you want to do so before you glue on the roof (15)

3. the instructions in step 5 don't call out that you need to glue on the turret periscope housing (not sure of the number), but just shows it already on there

4. Step 9 and 10, the tracks, first you don't want to use the big wheel (48) or the light cluster (64) now

I found it easiest to assemble the whole track run by itself creating a 'smooth' surface on the inside of it to get the parts in the right place and only using the side of the hull to make sure the angles are right

Once the whole length of track is together you can fit it onto the hull side

note at the back of the track run there is a marked spot on the hull side to glue one of the three nubs that sticks out of the end of the track, at the front the track isn't attached to the hull side

You'll also need to add the tow rope tile onto the hull, it's shown already there in the instructions

5. step 11 glue the large wheels you didn't use earlier (48 & 70) and all the small wheels (make sure you get them the right way round) onto the main body of the hull

then you can add the left and right track assemblies onto the hull

6. step 12, I think it's easier to add the lights underneath the mudguard sections (66 & 88) rather than have them sitting on the tracks

Thanks for the tips Orlando. Size-wise, how does it compare to a Russ?

I don't have one to compare sorry,

its bigger than a rhino so I suspect it's fairly similar to a Rus if you ignore the lack of sponsons (you could install your own as it's designed for them... I think there were resin ones on the resin version from their earlier empire of man KS)

I'll do some measurements and comparison shots with a rhino, predator (my conversion) & a plagueburst crawler which I do have when it's fully put together in the next day or two so you can judge for yourself

Wouldn't you be able to do that via kickstart's page?

Got shipping notification myself too. Went for 99$ pledge in the cathedral style(to fit with my sisters of battle).

the tank was one per backer (not pledge) during the KS but I think that has ended and it has to be picked up as an add on item now

but at $30 it's still a pretty decent deal especially if your picking up other stuff or multiples to spread out the shipping cost

I thought there might be a special deal as the previous poster mentioned a "cathedral late pledge deal".

I have late pledged for RPG cathedral, but considering adding on another couple of sets to build a proper cities of death table.

Still haven't gotten any notifications on my pledge shipping.

Admittedly I did add-on 3 more tanks after seeing the previews, so maybe it's taking a little longer since they were the last part of the KS produced.

My two Wolverines arrived and will soon be converted to Warzone proxies. The plasma silo also arrived and its a nice kit that will make for a good pair of engines when placed flat on the table. The only thing that was a bit of a surprise was the stretch goal box, of which I got two. For some reason I was expecting many of the pieces to be larger than they ended up being, particularly the statues and stairs. That said, there are enough bits between my two boxes to finish off my ruined cathedral setup for Warzone.

they're still very limited in how much they can actually send to the USA on a daily basis (both in terms of weight and number of packages) so at least some backers will have a fair bit of waiting to do. Hopefully you'll get yours soon

So Archon say they put in extra pipes and forgot to leave space for the servo skull, so we get it as a 3d printable file and a 10$ voucher.

Dear Backer,
We're shipping pledges out to you on the double at the moment. We're excited to finally see this terrain on tables with large scale forces and smaller skirmishes taking to the field.

Not only that but you might notice a number of additional elements on the sprues that weren't originally planned. These include:

In adding these elements and rushing these out to you, we did make an error and we forgot to cast the bonus survey model. Yes, it's an oversight but we'll put this right by providing you with an stl file and a $10 voucher for our webstore. Expect separate email with those soon.

This voucher can be used for any of our current or future ranges carried in our store!

Again, we're sorry for the error and we're hoping that you'll still enjoy getting the terrain to the table!

While the Servo Skull was a fun bit, I don't mind losing it for the $10 voucher. I need to order a couple more silos thanks to Siygess (great idea !!)
The voucher, skull STL file, and more bits on the sprue are all a good move on Archon's part, AFAIC.
