Hello Dakka!

This week, over at Odds of War, we have a sit and chat about Drukhari in Kill Team! We talk about their special rules, models, tactics, and basically everything you need to know about the Dark Kin.

Enjoy!

I couldn't help but wonder about Drukhari. And this is a lengthy video, so I have to ask-

-Can you take Incubi?
-Can you mix Cabals, Cults, & Covens?

Mob Rule is not a rule.

Kabalite Warriors and Wyches are the two Kill Team units in the base game.

Wracks, Incubi, Grotesques, and Mandrakes are added in Elites.

You can mix the three, but you lose out on Drukhari Obsession, the chapter tactics equivalent, which you only get if you take drukhari only from one type (so you don't mix Wyches, Kabalites, and Grots+Wracks)

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Helpful, thanks. I was considering an Incubi + Wracks + Grotesques Kill Team.

I have some Kabalites and Wyches for Kill Team from before Elites happened. I spend half a month painting them up played a couple of games, and realized they weren't doing it for me.

What I can say is the Wyches seemed to be the better of the two units save the special weapons of the Kabalites. I really favored the Dark Lance as a sniper with comms Kabalite near by. Very good zone control. I used the Blaster in my games since I was mostly playing MEQs at the time, but I can't say if it or the Shredder was better. I will say I liked the blast pistols on my Kabalite and Sybarite (I always ran both). They were easier than you might think to get a clear shot on opponents (DE high Move) and usually wasted what they hit. Also, if these units happen to survive a round of combat these pistols usually made short work of the enemy better than their melee weapons. I would have certainly taken more blast pistols if I could.

As for the Wyches themselves, I felt the hyrda gauntlets were pretty good, but I couldn't get the other special melee weapons to work out especially the razor flails. I found that regular wyches worked out better for me since they still had a ranged weapon to harass the enemy if charging wasn't going to work. Charging was kinda tough since Dark Eldar are so fragile. Even getting to attack first sometimes didn't mean much with that base Strength 3 and you didn't get the right drug.

My teams leaned toward Kabalite since I like those models more even if they didn't seem as good. Once Elites came out, I really didn't have desire to continue playing Dark Eldar as Obsessions would have required me to buy more models to make use of the rules. Plus, a fair number of Elites options are not in plastic which is always a no go for me.

Got a Kabalite team and they're okay as a change from other factions, but really waiting on rules for Scourges and the new models for the Incubi. I should wise up and add some Wyches...

Bit disappointed with the Eldar factions and still hoping they do a Ynnari faction, for which I would take the Drukhari more often.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

Hahahaha, you think anyone's going to watch your 3 hour video?

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.
