Willing Inquisitorial Excruciator

I just skimmed over the last 3 pages of topics and couldn’t find one about the new WD Inquisition rules. So I decided to make a thread about it. I got the WD two weeks back I think and I’m quite happpy with the changes. Here’s a list of positive and negative stuff about the WD list.

Positive:
A single Inquisitor is now extremely easy to fit into any Imperium army.
Inquisitors not only have warlord traits, relics and stratagems but can even pick them without being the warlord.
Refractor fields on Inquisitors!
Slight buff to the deamonhosts.
New psychic discipline
Several choices that change depending on your ordo.
Eisemhorn.

Negative:
The acolytes now have the character rule if taken as single models. Might lead to some cheesy combos.
Inquisition does not share a keyword with the officio assasinorum.
No Inquisitorial storm troopers or rhinos.
Might be a bit strong combined with space marines.
No power armour option, Terminator armour limited to Ordo Malleus.
One psychic power is pretty much another smite. Allows you to cast smite twice in a turn with the same model (more or less)

His pattern of returning alive after being declared dead occurred often enough during Cain's career that the Munitorum made a special ruling that Ciaphas Cain is to never be considered dead, despite evidence to the contrary.

Inqusitors won't disable doctrines but I'm not seeing a TON of obvious synergy between an inqusitor and Marines so it shouldn't be a big big deal. looking at things I feel a Xenos inqusitor might potentially be the best. IMHO it'd be nice if the game gave sisters of battle, death watch and grey knights a strat that allows them to gain the "ordos hereticius, xenos and malleus" key words respectfully.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Ironically, I think Black Templars could benefit the most from having an Inquisitor for trying to deny enemy psychic powers from going off. On the other hand Grimaldus is a very juicy option as well and does the same.

Custom40k Homebrew - Alternate activation, huge customisation, support for all models from 3rd to 10th edition

Designer's Note: Hardened Veterans can be represented by any Imperial Guard models, but we've really included them to allow players to practise their skills at making a really unique and individual unit. Because of this we won't be making models to represent many of the options allowed to a Veteran squad - it's up to you to convert the models. (Imperial Guard, 3rd Edition)

yeah quite possiably, I know that the main army I've been looking for synergy in is sisters of battle, and you can get a pretty decent denial the witch with them.

Ordo Hereticus to use No Escape when they charge in with high-powered CC allies. Very nice.

A Bloody Rose Sisters army with Zephyrim, Repentia and Arcos is gross, and when you load in Hereticus Inquisitors to lock their targets. The wording of the rule about including a single Inquisitor in a detachment seems to imply the any detachment can include one in any/every detachment- so up to 3 of them, provided you're actually fielding a full 3 detachments.

Chamber militant synergy needs to happen. Granting the Inquisitor's <Ordo> Keyword to all Chamber Militant units in the same detachment. If the Inquisitor is your warlord, they grant their <Ordo> Keyword to every Chamber Militant unit in the army. This would be especially potent if they didn't lose their own faction abilities. I don't have the Greyknight dex, but from what I hear, they could really use some support. PA 4 has something for them, but we're not sure how good it will be; Inquisition synergy could have been a safety net to protect against an underwhelming showing in PA. And of course, a nice boost for Sisters and Deathwatch as well.

I did find one thing in the WD list somewhat confusing: the rules about not breaking Order Traits/ Doctrines etc. appear under the bullet point point for including single, allied Inquisitors. The bullet point that gives you the rules for including Inquisitorial Detachments includes no mention of whether or not they have a Battle Brothers exemption when fielded this way.

The only detachment that really works for Inquisition is Vanguard, since a) you can only ever include a single inquisitor in a detachment an b) there are no troops choices for Inquisition.

And finally, being able to use any Imperial Transport doesn't necessarily confer the ability to include it in an Inquisitorial Detachment, meaning that an Inquisitor can catch a lift in a Valkyrie, but only if there's a guard detachment in the army.

My personal Inquisition dream is Greyfax, the SoS character that we're getting in February, and two squads of SoS Vigilators, all mounted in a Kharon Pattern Acquisitor. Unfortunately, there are no official 8th ed 40k rules for the Acquisitor, though some decent house rules from a fellow Dakkanaut can be found here: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/728744.page

if you take an inqusitorial detachment you lose the bonuses.

So if I take a army that consists of a Battalion of 1 Space Marine captain, Eisenhorn, 3 squads of tac marines, 1 devestator squad and 1 assault squad I still get all my doctrines.

BUT.... let's say I take 1 SM battalion of 1 Captain, 1 Lt, 3 tac squads, 1 dev squad, 1 assault squad, and then take a second detachment that consists of eisenhorn and a buncha acyoyltes that I've lovenly converted into his retuine from the books.. I do not get doctrines.

Kinda what I feared.

There's still hope that they'll get it right when they port all the WD content into an Imperial Agents dex.

I think Admech benefits from the Inquisition rules more than Space Marines. Finally getting to do something in the Psychic phase is great, as is the ability to deny the witch, and finally the possibility to deny overwatch fills a lot of holes in our army.As

An Inquisitor in Terminator Armour dropping in with my Death Company to be another source of Overwatch denial will be amazing.
