Hi folks
How far into the Horus Heresy would you have to go in order to see any demon possessed vehicles, if any? I seem to remember a deamon possessed titan at the siege of terra in one of the very old write ups of the battle?
I'm more or less just asking to see if I can get away with using a HellBrute model in a 30k. army, but you know, it is also just fun to know

They were present during the Siege of Terra so 30k Helbrutes would be acceptable afaik.

The word bearers DO in fact have a possessed dreadnought. It sucks since you pay a steep amount of points to shut down Psykers with it, except it doesn’t discriminate and the wordbearers are on of the top Psyker armies in the game, so you are far more likely to hurt yourself than anyone else. But they have one

The first mention of something resembling a daemon engine is amongst Kelbor-Hal's armies in the Death of Innocence in Mechanicum.
How long it takes for them to spread to the legion armies is unclear but as noted it's some point during the heresy; daemon titans exist by the time of the Siege of Terra.

Daemonic forces were being used by the Siege of Terra, but generally, I'm thinking anything prior to Molech or towards the end of the Shadow Crusade wouldn't be largely daemonic. Of course, there's always room for exceptions.

Thanks guys. I think I'm landing on not taking it for general games. It would be an Iron Warrior dread, so it might have to wait for some special narrative game set in the latest stages of the war or something.

Word Bearers had something like a Defiler at during Calth.
The fall of Mars ushered in creation of Daemon Engines which quickly spread.
Since the timeline of the heresy is stretched I think Daemon Engines would have been quite widespread midpoint to the Siege of Terra

What about the Iron Warriors as a legion - would they make use of deamonic engineering early or would they have disdain for chaos for longer?

After they fell, they might have initially disdained Chaos for being too similar to xenos stuff in their eyes. But once they realized that a maulerfiend does a damn good job of breaking down doors, they probably were all over it.
