New Custom Hive fleet adaption question.

Cranial Channelling
The craniums of this hive fleet’s psyker-beasts contain a clutch of symbiotic larvae whose entire life-cycle revolves around the channelling of the Hive Mind. With an instinctive impulse, the carrier will absorb one of these creatures into their swollen brain matter, thus becoming a more efficient and fluid extension of the hive fleet’s will.

Once per turn, when a Psychic test is taken for a model with this adaptation, you can re-roll the result.

Is this once per turn army wide, as in you can only do this once per turn for a single psychic test?

OR

Is this once per turn for a unit with this adaptation?

As in I have 4 units of Zoes which can all re roll a psychic test once per turn?

I feel like it is the first one.

Hasn’t been FAQ’d yet... RAW is ambiguous.
You won’t get a clear answer here unfortunately.

The wording could be better, but I'm certain the intention is that you get to use it army wide once per turn. My primary reasoning being that the first clause is simply "once per turn", which very much reads as as army wide.

It is a very strange way to word it if the intention was anything else.

It would still be good to get clarification anyway, as it has literally been frequently asked. But until such a time, even if you think it is more ambiguous than I do it is still best practice to err on the more conservative reading.

Thats probably the most fair. 16 zoes is already pretty brutal without constant re rolls

It'll probably get FAQ'd but being this is GW and smash captains can drop from the sky, charge 3d6", and can't be overwatched I wouldn't put that in writing.

Not really sure how that's relevant here. Arguably ambiguous wording is a bit different to something being powerful.

Germany

Only one reroll for only one psyker per turn seems pretty weak though. When SM choose knowledge is power all their psykers can reroll 1s for psychic tests and deny the witch, all the time.

Space Marines have several chapter tactic options that are significantly better than anything on the new Tyranid list though

Because generally the only time such ambiguous wording is a issue is when someone feels it makes something over powered. I was simply pointing out that in the world of 40k such things are common. Also in the past when I have felt something was being interpreted wrong, and would later be FAQ'd. It has in fact been FAQ'd only to confirm it was intended to do the more potent interpretation.

FAQ is out!

Q: Does the Cranial Channelling Hive Fleet Adaptation allow each Psyker unit with this adaptation to re-roll one Psychic test per turn, or a single Psyker unit with this Adaptation in your army to re-roll one Psychic test per turn?

A: It allows a single Psyker unit with this Adaptation in your army to re-roll one Psychic test per turn.

Only one test total no matter what
