Hello one and all. It's been a while.

Having worked on space marines for most of my hobbying career I figured it was time to go non-imperial.

I picked up a batch of genestealers at the weekend and have thrown down the first lick of paint.

As mentioned I've spent most of my time painting space marines in the past and goddammit am I fed up with layering, edge highlighting and making things look neat.

So my thinking with this army is to do it as slap dash as possible while still maintaining at least a symbol of respectability.

To achieve this I sprayed white, slapped on some contrast paints, did a little bit of dry brushing and then added some shades.

Results are below... but essentially i managed to batch paint this squad in the time it would take to paint a single marine using my normal methods:

Let me know what you think!

They look pretty good! I think once you get them based it'll take them over the edge.

The black parts of the genestealers look too grey, and I would check if you might want to use matt or satin varnish. Other than those these look good.

I think that might be the lighting, the seem darker in the first pic.

They look good!

There's a simple satisfaction to speed painting. Yes, you generally have to lower your standards, but if you're careful in the choices you make you can still turn out good looking minis in record time.
