Subject: Basilisk overwatch?

I had a game yesterday where I did a 3 inch charge to a Basilisk with a space marine captain on a bike with power fist to finish it off.
And although it looked absolutely ridiculous, it got to overwatch with the main gun. The gun was longer than the distance I was charging XD.
We were both returning players after years without touching the game, and we were confused, since we did not found anything saying that this is not allowed.
Is this correct?

Correct. The basilisk can make overwatch with ALL of its weapons if a charge was declared against it unless a specific rule makes them unable to do so.
On a hopeful note, I do think it would be interesting to see vehicles unable to overwatch with it's main guns and only side arms can be used as a last resort scramble.

Additionally, the Basilisk still doesnt need line of sight when firing overwatch with the earthshaker cannon either!

Exaclty! XD And the Basilisk was only 1 wound from dying, so it would have hit a +6 anyway.
Comming from earlier editions, I believe artillery and certain weapons had either rules against overwatch, a minimum range, or overwatch did not exist at all.

There is a vehicle which cant overwatch with one weapon, the plagueburst crawler. Its plagueburst mortar has 12-48" range. Which means it cant be used if an enemy unit is within 12". The basilisk should be similar, because artillery cant shoot at close distances. But its an imperial unit, and those cant have any disadvantages.

1) If a unit is exactly, to the atom, 12" away it can be used.
2) Minimum ranges don't actually function anyway, RaW.

Note that overwatch is allways on a 6, no matter how many wounds your basilisk has, unless you boost it with something like defensive gunners (+1) strat or something odd like "a mordian vehicle unit rigth beside another mordian vehicle gets another +1 bonus". Overwatch abilities to reroll misses become a far nicer buff (percentwise) than normal shooting phase gets from them. Usually.

There are no firing arcs in 40k for most if not all guns. So you could have charged from any angle and it could still fire
