ZergSmasher wrote:One thing I think I've found with the actual Battle Sisters kit is that it's pretty easy to make 2 units including Superiors from one box. I think if you use Battle Sister A as a second Superior (she's the one that can optionally take a Simulacrum or have her helmet under her arm) it works good, especially if you can put any bits on her that make her stand out (thinking of the little dove with the scroll for mine). If you want to make Dominions with 4 specials, you're kind of hosed on the others, but then you probably could use a few extra Bolter girls anyways, or another actual Simulacrum bearer, or a Heavy Weapon sister, or something.
Edit: Sorry, I should elaborate a little bit. On Sister A, you're good to use her as a Superior as long as you don't want a Combi-weapon, and even with those you might be able to pull it off with a little bit of modelling work. And maybe you could swap out the Bolt Pistol with a spare Chainsword from a Space Marine or something (unlikely you'll have a spare Sisters one).
With the wealth of special weapons, what's the reason that couldn't be two squads of Dominions? Are there limited arm combos that hold all those fancy guns? I'm flush with bolter Sisters from my classic collection, so I'd build all stormbolters and meltas from that box if I could.

Poses. Not all fit arms without some more or less serious cutting. These are not multipose models. These are monopose with couple options.

Mmmm... bummer. Also, challenge accepted, GW! If I end up with an extra bolter that puts up too much of a fight, I've been wanting to try Max Moray's muted color scheme.

In my opinion it is doable (with some cutting and a little bit of green stuff of course) to make two squads (dominions or battle sisters) out of the battle sister box.
Alternatively, one could make at least 3 superiors using the bodies of the intended superior, the simulacrum bearer and the grenade sister using the three swords (power, sheathed power, chainsword), combiweapon, bolt pistol, arms with helmets tucked, pointing hand, condemnor, plasma and chaplet.
PS: Looking forward to the muted color scheme!

Picked these up over the years because I like painting sisters. (I seem to have lost my Hospitaller though which bums me out).
I love to play wargames - KOW (current game of choice), Hail Caesar, Warhammer Ancients back in the day, but unfortunately could never get into 40k. It doesn't seem like a wargame (to me!), and the scene here appears very competitive. However, I am willing to try again.
The question here though is more for you painters and modelers. I am tired of painting black. Would you just paint new sisters in a new scheme, and I would continue to get old sisters and paint them in my old colors? Would this bother people if I ever played? I dont want to be 'that guy'. I just like painting Sisters, they are some of the best miniatures out there.
I was thinking either a white (cream) and red, or maybe a silver and red? What would look good in combination? Or do I just continue in the old style?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
I would have no problem with this. You could even use a similar spot colour (Lets say red) but different Armour colours.
Can be boring doing the same colours for a large number of models, if you want to change it up you do you.

Albertorious, I love the scheme! Very striking, regal, high contrast, and both the metal and fabric you've done with nice depth. Looking forward to more!
Piano man, with all these new Orders, if you're going to find a few games, you'll be glad to have the option to run 2 different Orders in the same army. If you're not going to get many games, you should do whatever feels fun to paint! Either was it sounds like you'll probably leave the black scheme to your metal models and choose something new for your plastics, which is largely what I have done.

I picked up a Neave Blacktalon mini back when that box set first came out, because it was such a badass mini that I wanted to convert her to a Sister of Battle. I never painted the conversion, and with the plastic releases I went back and updated a few details (adding a SoB backpack in particular) and finished the job. Canoness Hildegard may come from a heavy-gravity world, but doesn't loom over her companions so massively anymore.

I've completed 2 whole models since buying the set. I'm very productive.
I think it'll take me a while to get to all of them, since I kind of want to plug through everything else that's been on the stack first. I've got:
2 Immolators
1 Rhino
25 BSS
2 Seraphim
8 Repentia
1 Penitent Engine
[Also: 5 Interceptors, 1.5 Dawneagle Jetbikes, and 1 Panzer IV]
to finish before I start work in earnest on the new stuff. Also, a Basilisk and Ven Dread, which I bought recently and are on the fast-track because I want them in my lists soon.

It comes with enough helmets by a factor of like 2.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades! |

Here's my gallery for my Order https://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-23066-62187_Order%20of%20the%20Aegir%20Chalice.html
For the most part I painted these this year while some Seraphim and older metal repentia I did while I was assembling these plastic ones. I also took a reply from Asmodai about squad markings by using the I on the left shoulder pad. The blue and green are more different in person but I may still use a lighter blue like temple guard or mixing with a lighter color.

Short answer: No. Nothing has been announced publicly.
Long answer: GW confirmed Sisters as getting a Psychic Awakening book yesterday. We already know the armies in Saga of the Beast and Engine War, so if they're in War of the Spider or a later book and the new models tie into that, it wouldn't be till at least May.
I'm certainly hoping for sooner since my goal is to have them ready for a GT in May.
GW just announced on Facebook the rest of the kits will be out in March.

Building the Pen Engine from the big box. Thinking about leaving it in some parts for paint. How are people partially assembling this? Because there are a TON of details it’s going to be hard to get a brush to. But I also don’t want to leave it in 20 parts to prime and paint.
Thoughts?

I might have a couple of useful things to offer. I also painted pre-assembly. I was mainly looking at doing a good job of painting the pilot and the really cool vault of vials on the back when I planned my approach. I think I got both of those, but maybe not with the gains I'd imagined. The vials aren't very visible on the assembled model, and I'm glad I didn't go big on trying to paint liquid levels or bubbles on them. I found that painting the pilot separately means giving up the opportunity the fill all the gaps on the pilot's neck and torso. Because of the way the components slot into and pass through each other, assembling the pilot has to be the last step, and I found even a couple layers of paint made the fit a little snug. I'm still glad I went the route I did and will do the same again, but with reasonable expectations... the vials won't be a striking visual centerpiece, and the pilot will show some seams. I'd say go for it, but dry-fit the assembly a few times to see what actually merits extra time and effort.
I have some painting and photos planned later tonight, so I'll try to upload a pic of the vials.

It's great to see the progress and conversions etc people are making!
Sadly my own army has come to a screeching halt due to work but I did get some minis painted up a while ago.
I built the Exorcist but screwed it up a little at the back - distracted by a dog and dinner simultaneously.
Also regrettably I've changed the colour scheme since painting the Repentia, which means all that white work on the cloak might be wasted

Cranking through these Sisters. Forgive the blurry photo.
Absolutely beautiful models and such a joy to paint. I have a very quick Order of Our Martyred Lady scheme which lets me paint models quickly as I don't have too much time to spend on the hobby. I also customised a Sister Superior Amalia Novena model to now have a Power Sword, hooded head, pointing hand alongside the standard Bolter. Using parts from the Battle Sisters sprue with barely any clipping involved - the kits CAN be customised to some degree!

I already own a set of metal repentias and a Mistress of Repentance; and to my tastes the classic Mistress fell within the bounds of "endearingly weird" rather than painful to look at. I'm keeping her, which left me with no particular need for the Repentia Superior from the box set. She is a very nice sculpt though. So I clipped the whips and made her an Imagifier instead. Converting her to a junior Canoness would also be easy.
Here's an Imagifier from the regular troops box. I really like the "scripture-text" waterslide decals GW included. They're almost too good though; the lines of scribble-text are so fine that they almost disappear at arm's length.
Only the penitent engine shall pass...
And finally a group shot of the new-sisters I've finished since the release.

That's exactly right... nicely done. http://www.solegends.com/citcat2005ussc/c2005usscp0062-00.htm
So that one isn't around anymore, but I did a size comparison and a mockup with a photo in my P&M blog with a Space Marine chainsword that would have delivered a similar effect... but not quite the same as using a 54mm sword on a 28mm model!
