Subject: [Witchin' Hour] a brand new Skirmish Game from the Netherlands
We’ve just posted a crazy battle report video for Witchin’ Hour, and brand new tabletop skirmish game from the Netherlands. Grab your favorite pointy hat (brown or black) and enjoy the rumble!

Cool, thanks for posting this. I saw the link and looked at the publisher via your Facebook page Skirmish Wargames.
First, I love your channel -- we dabble in out print games as well, and lesser know systems like Star Breach. Your Gwar post was especially enjoyable.
I The theme of Witchin' Hour makes me a bit squeamish, actually, due to the massive amount of women tortured and murdered during the time period. But, fantasy is fantasy, and the variety of models available should make this quite a good time. I'll watch the report tonight. Cheers.

Hi Shrap. Thanks for the kind words. Sometimes I think we're crazy for focusing on the obscure, but I guess we have a soft spot for indie games and the OOP.
I totally agree with your point about the European and Colonial witch trials. The persecution was horrific. And yet for some reason the idea of FICTIONAL witch hunters battling supernatural witches keeps popping up in movies, TV, comics and video games. The epic struggle makes for good drama apparently.
Anyway, Witchin' Hour is clearly a Hollywood style work of fiction. And in that context we really enjoyed it.
Thanks for the comment. These things are worth discussing. Cheers.

I can't really see being all that squeamish about the setting of the game, as it's more of a Solomon Kane "Dark and evil Europe"-style setting, to me.

The game is indeed based on the more 'Hollywood' style of the Witch Hunters and Witches.
There is no intention of actively re-living these horrible persecutions. Instead it is a game where a warband led by a Witch Hunter is battling it out against Witches and their Coven members.

Any hesitation or lack settlement is a personal thing of mine -- definitely not a criticism of the game system, please know that.
I definitely look forward to supporting the Kickstarter and ordering a book!
Skirmish Wargames -- Thanks for your thoughts, definitely more dialogue to come from me -- after the unholy tasks of laundry...
Automatically Appended Next Post: Here are a few minis from my Frostgrave Hagwitch warband.
Sorry for the flash but you get the idea. The left is a Warhound the right a standard Soldier. The whole batch of them are witches, apprentices, pumpkin men and a smattering of knight goblins from GW and others from the excellent manufacturer Spellcrow. I'll post more if you enjoy them.
I originally used these figs for the game Fanticide. So Glad I kept these models -- and I have about 15 more, including witches on broomsticks. Think i'm set for half a demo force already.

Shrap, definitely show us more of the warband. Never heard of Spellcrow, but now I'm intrigued.

Greetings again,
Spellcrow hail from Poland and make some fine minis. The model on the right is from their skirmish game Umbra Turris.
The left is a typical (but cool) quality figure for comparison. The detail Spellcrow put out is impressive.
What do you think, and does the game system ring a bell albeit relatively new?

Ik like the models you are showing. These are great for Witchin' Hour.
I also use the Foundry/Warmonger Witch model you have shown. They have a few blisters with Witches that are excellent for the game.
The Witchin' Hour Kickstarter has reached the second stretch goal!
This means that all backers from Apprentice level and up now have the option to get their hands on the special gaming tokens. These will cost you € 5,- (which is a special Kickstarter price, retail price will be higher) and the set will provide you with enough tokens for two players to play a game.
We have also reached 100 backers! I am very proud that we have reached this number, and with 16 more days to go who knows what will happen?
If you look forward to the upcoming stretch goals please feel free to persuade others to join in. Share the Kickstarter on any platform or social media you like, bribe people, cast spells of enchantment or simply threaten to put them through a thorough interrogation on suspicion of using the black arts if they do not pledge.
Good news for Americans who have an interest in the game Witchin’ Hour (now on Kickstarter).
Noble Knight Games (www.nobleknight.com) from Fitchburg will stock the rulebook.
If you want to get your hands on the book visit the following link and place your pre-order before the Kickstarter ends (March, 1st). This way they will know how many books to pledge for and you don’t miss out.
You can still order at Noble Knight. They made a retailers pledge and as long as they have not al been pre-ordered you can still pre-order your copy. And if you do it before I start shipping they can also still order more copies for the shipment.

Sounds good Patrick, thanks for the heads up!
