It's been about a decade since I played this regularly but I have always wondered do the "normal" non-gene seed having humans somehow given the gene-seed afterward or do they stay the way they were? Also, I used to know the answer to this but does the emperor sanction the Dark Angels to recruit like this (it's only done rarely in extreme cases if I remember correctly). Because I could see this recruiting of "normals" (sorry couldn't think of a better word) causing much anger. and possibly a sizable rebellion.

(Also, does anyone know of any books about the Dark Angel's that are nice? I read one in high school once and it was great but I don't remember its name.)

I'm not sure what you're saying here...

Space Marines are originally normal people. The gene seed is spliced into them as part of becoming a space marine, you cant be a space marine without that - its basically part of the definition of what they are.

Oh, it's been a while I could have sworn the gene-seed was "put" into them before birth.

No, that's not how it works.

The process ideally begins around age 10. There's more info here:

During the Crusade circa 30K, there are plenty of examples in the lore of adult humans being augmented to approach Space Marine capabilities, usually on the adopted "homeworld" of the Primarchs as they were discovered. I don't know of examples of this happening in the 40K timeframe. Certainly the Dark Angels follow strict recruiting practices in the 40K Black Library lore in terms of the age of aspirants.

The Gav Thorpe 40K Dark Angels Black Library books are excellent. His Legacy of Caliban collection brings together three of his novels that follow a common plot-line through the eyes of senior Dark Angels (Azrael, Sammael, Belial etc) as well as some more junior Dark Angels. Well worth the read to get re-immersed into Dark Angels lore!

All you have to do is fire three rounds a minute, and stand

Are Space Marines eunuchs? I thought their being sterile was just a supposition on our behalf because Space Marine procreation is never mentioned in the background. But I thought it was just something that Games-Workshop never talks about.

You’d think they be more calm, but they are just the opposite, raging maniacs killing everyone before them.

Concerning DA fluff where they are sympathetic, I can only suggest the early HH ones, specifically the one about the first Cypher, the rest DA fluff= they are major a-holes, traitors imo, and deserve only death or worse.

The only similar example I can think of comes from Pariah, by Dan Abnett:

Spoiler:
The planet the story takes place on has augmented warriors which were used as soldiers, who are large and powerful enough that an Astartes is able to pose as one of them to conceal his identity.

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

With the space steroids they get to become space marines, I wouldn't be surprised if their reproductive parts aren't working properly, but I don't think it's ever been confirmed.

Anyways, if space marines can have kids, these would be regular humans. Implanting extra organs does nothing to change someone's DNA.

Besides, they only get 15 minutes free time every day - if the Chapter Master approves. Hardly enough to cruise into town and meet girls.
