Hey all.
I'm currently working on a project to rebuild the crashed Aquila lander from the battle for macragge: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/784918.page
I want to use the lander in either my Inquisition or Grey Knights army however I'm not sure if I'm able to take this as part of my inquisitors detachment or if I need to have it as a separate auxillary detachment.

Can someone shed some light here please?

Back in 7th, you use to able to take as air support, though a pitiful one at that with only 1 nose mount weapon(HB/AC/ML). Transport capacity of either 6 or ..

It’s best used like a background scenic piece as intended; such as it just landed on a air field dropping off it’s important passengers.

You’re welcome to look at my inquisition and navy gallery for detail reference of the Aquila Lander.

I know. I've been playing since forth edition and I've had a love affair with the ship since the 4th ed starter set. I know its a bit cabbage. But I love the look of it. What I want to know is can I field it as inquisition, or is it guard only.

That you can find out by using Army Builder or Battlescribe and fiddle around building army lists. I’m away from my laptop so I can’t help you there right now.

Or, he could just buy the books to find out the rules...

Edit: Specifically the Imperial Armour Forces of the Astra Militarum book has the datasheet for the Aquila Lander (Page 45).

GW has already announced that the book you mentioned will be obsolete and replaced in a couple months. Now is not a good time to buy.

That all depends on what you want from it.

If you want some datasheets to use for a bit with your friends for friendly games, then the book will be fine.

The Aquila Lander is keyword: Imperium, Astra Militarum, Aeronautica Imperialis. The only way you could take it is in an Astra Militarum detachment. You could do either a Air Wing which would need two other aircraft, or just take it as an Auxiliary Detachment for -1CP.

Usually Inquisition units have special rules for transports, so they may be able to anyway.

Basically you'll have to add it through the auxiliary detachment and pay the 1CP.
Inquisiton units will be able to board it due to their own rules.

And guys - it was a simple, focused question. Not a "can you tell me the stats of the unit", not a "how good is this unit". A simple rules query. Telling them to just look at BS or the book is not helpful.

Actually, since he asked "I'm not sure if I'm able to take this as part of my inquisitors detachment or if I need to have it as a separate auxillary detachment."

Telling them to just look at the book is helpful, as the answers are in the book and the rules are clear.

If youd go by the rules of the index and brb you'd assume that everything is keyword imperium and would be allowed to share a detachment. It's only through other publications that this was changed. Maybe they picked something like that up somewhere, which contradicts the rules in the books. Not everyone is up to date on FAQs and not everyone owns all the CAs.

So obviously it wasn't clear to them, otherwise they'd not asked people on the internet for advice. Telling them to rtfm isn't helpful if the manual isn't up to date anyway.

And I didn't just comment on the advice to rtfm. There were a bunch of other comments, all of them not helpful. This thread hit all of the tropes of "asking for advice on the internet".
