So if we pretend that we are currently living through M2 and the emperor is about 10,000 years old and has been guiding humanity from the shadows, which modern day person is most likely to be the emperor and guiding to modern humans toward their eventual golden age? Trump? Putin? The leader of the stonemasons?

Doesn't the lore say that the emperor hide himself from public till later XXth milenium? that would kind of a mean that he can't be anyone known right now.

Maybe the Emperor created lore about himself to make humanity more prepared for his eventual reveal.
Big E is a fraud. I personally sub to the theory He is an alpha level psyker from the Age of Strife who used the ensuing power vacuum to seize power for himself.
Why did he not come for humanity in the war with Men of Iron? Where was he during the Old Night? Answer- he wasn’t around then.
