Gale Force 9 is the company is behind the tabletop version of the game.
Based on the images it is clear that it is more or less a reskinned version of their Tanks games, (the skirimsh games of flames of war and team yankee) and since each product will contain a code for some virtual goodies for the pc game, it is clear this is primarely a WoT fan product.
The tanks will come assembled and primed but minature scale is so far not known. More tank models will be released as the year goes on.

Expect this to be a fast played, easy rules system skirmish game whit the possebility that it might become a medium to large sized engagment game. (pc game does afterall pitch 15 tanks vs 15 tanks and one game mode with 30 vs 30 tanks)
Expected release is july 2020.

I get that making this with tanks GF9 already produced makes it a cheap game to get to market. But I cannot help feeling that producing tanks that are not already made by a dozen different companies might have sold it better.

They would not, this is not aimed at tank aficionados that will complain the Ausf G is missing it's updated cupola, this is aimed at the same kids that every other WoT merch has been aimed at.

That being said, are there booster packs you need to buy for one-use golden ammo cards?

Surprised they didn't go for an Ex Illis style code to enter into an app/website to "unlock" your tank rules and amunition rules

You know, I never forgot the amazing concept behind it, but didn't quite remember the name. Thanks for bringing that wonderful memory back!

Also, not sure if the Chieftain can fit into a 15mm hatch.

Oh man, Ex Illis, now there's a name I haven't heard in a long time.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

As i see it, it has 3 good reasons to why it could sell; no gold ammo, no horrible matchmaker and no XVM ui mods.

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

So, does this use different rules from the GF9 Tanks game already out there? Because it seems like I could get a rules-light tanks battle fix from what's already out.

Holy awful release scheme...did anyone else see on the image it says that those tanks will be released through May of 2021? Piddling out 4-5 tanks every couple of months might work in a video game, but that's game suicide. The initial release should have been all of the shown tanks, minimum.

Do exactly the same speed of releases that killed this game originally

Will pass of this one. Already have tanks so it’s a bit pointless plus that gives me some tank action while bringing my fow stuff up to date for v4.

I was wondering about that as well, since TANKS has been out for maybe near ten years now.

Didn´t notice the excruciatingly slow release schedule. Don´t they already make all these tanks? Is cardboard so hard to source?

I.. don't get it. What does this offer that the video game or a real tabletop wargame doesn't?

I don't even like the video game, but I don't understand what the draw is supposed to be to drag their players into meatspace and juggle card-based mechanics and a glacial release schedule

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

if the codes in the boxes are for unique tanks that aren't aquirable outside of that game you can expect every WOT player to rush out and buy the game. so even if no one plays the game thats a market right there

Like i said, it is a fan product on the same level as the Italeri 1:35 WoT model kits that allso contained bonus stuff for the pc game that they sold years ago.
The avrage WoT player dont know what tabletop games is so for them it will be a brand new thing.

As for GF9, it is prolly easy money for them no matter how they see it, so who can blame them for jumping on this. I bet a year of PR on this game on wot websites will sell more of this then what the ww2 Tanks game ever has done.

As a longtime player of Tanks, my biggest concern is that this means that instead of finally adding new tanks to the game (like the Stuart and T-70, the updated plastic models of which have been available in the Flames of War range for months) they're starting all over at the beginning and will spend the next 14 months re-releasing all the tanks that have already been available for years

Although sadly this does seem to fit in with Battlefront's recent trend of releasing only slightly updated versions of the same thing I already bought from them five years ago...
