Hi,

The Tempestus Scions kit has a special type of pistol, looking like a lengthened las pistol with some sort of chainfist-type thingie built-in. The building instructions for the Kill Team Tempestus Scions use it for the medic. I can't find any rules or even a name for it in the building instructions booklet or in the Astra Militarum 2017 codex.

Can anybody tell me exactly what weapon this is, and what its special rules are, if any?

Thanks!

It’s a Hotshot Laspistol. It’s just following the Space Marine Apothecary trend of having something attached to cut through armour to administer dressings/injections/other medical attention. It has no special rules in and of itself, apart from being part of the Medipack ability.

It is NOT a pistol. It is a motorized bonesaw with a syringe. It clearly has a slanted syringe tip.

If the truth can destroy it, then it deserves to be destroyed.

Yup.

From the blurb "a Medic with an apothecary tool in his right hand and a first aid kit in left"

Fair dos! So it’s just part of the medipack and the pistol is holstered/not modelled, my bad.

That’s fine. Unfortunately, GW was smoking some hard dope (probably) when looking at the model and making 8th edition rules, so they called it a las pistol, whereas, if I remember correctly, the Scion codex never gave a medic a las pistol.

If the truth can destroy it, then it deserves to be destroyed.

Medics can have pistol/medpack or lasgungun/pistol/medpack, whichever you prefer. Just put one of the wrapped lasguns from the kit on their backpack or something.

Also, maybe their syringe is dual purpose, and can shoot or medicate. Who knows?

The original codex knew.

It's a S+1 Chain fist, that also has a Assault 4 S4 AP-2 D3 bolter pistol shooting attack. It's only 2" range though, so make sure you equip each medic with TWO, because the rules don't say you CANT. Then you will be all set with youre totally badassed Scion guys.
