Subject: Thunder Warriors of Terra and regiment names

I have been recently watching the series of videos about 40k lore on oculus imperialis’ channel(which if you haven’t seen I highly recommend). When watching the video on the Unification wars, he mentions that the Thunder Warriors were broken up into 20 regiments, each with their own name and leader, called a Primarch of all things haha. Then mentions how the 4th regiment was called the Iron Lords, similar to the 4th Legion of Astartes the Iron Warriors, another interesting coincidence. I assume that he has gotten most of this info from the Horus Heresy books from Forgeworld, but I wondered if anyone else knows the names of the rest of the regiments? Is there a list of them that I have not been able to find online? Odd question and thanks for any info. Be safe and wash your hands.

It's from Valdor: Birth of the Imperium. There's nothing on any of the other Thunder Legions as far as I can remember.

Iron Warriors was a name that Perty gave his legion so I suspect thew names where indeed coincidance, especially as most of the marine legion names we know aren't their original names. although on an OOC note I imagine the name was indeed chosen to sow doubts among us

Ah thanks, damn I was hoping there was some kind of list that had them all named but if the Emperor wanted them forgotten then chance of a list in the fluff might not be reasonable haha
Good point about sowing doubt haha. Yeh I know that the later legions changed their names a few times, first just numbered, then stuff like War Hounds and Star Hunters, then Primarch’s new names. I just find it interesting that the names were somewhat similar. Maybe if Perturabo was supposedly born with all this knowledge, he already knew his legions name?haha

What? You've confused me here. Partly because a lot of the 'original names' came many, many years later than the marine legion names.
Perturabo didn't even have a name himself (nor did the concept of 'primarch' exist) when the Iron Warriors name was put to paper in 1988.
Any Thunder Warrior unit names would have been even later.

When they're talking about "original names", they're referring to the original names within the setting, not original IRL.
So, while the Ultramarines were the Ultramarines first IRL, in the setting of 40k, the Ultramarines were originally called the War-Born.
