Subject: casualminipainters journey [ultramarines and random stuff]
first i hope you your friends and families are ok in this crazy times!
sooo...
i started painting minis with 10... aaand stopped with 13 :/
i felt in love with ultima online, wow and other mmorpgs.. that is 20 years ago...
i played warhammer fantasy (a undead skeleton army), mortheim (vampire hunters and skaven) and warhammer 40k with a small catachan army
some weeks ago i saw a video on yt ... some guy painted minis... and i thought what the hell, how cool is that!
i remembered that i still got a warhammer fantasy rule book between my dungeon and dragon and dsa books (dsa is a german pen and paper rpg)
after scrolling through my old warhammer fantasy rule book, i started looking for my box of my old minis..
i found that box, and since i opened that box I'm addicted to this great hobby again!
i painted some of my old unfinished skaven and catachaners to test out if i still have fun painting....
aaaaaaaand now my goal is to build a 1500 point ultra marine army and i got a start collecting box!
because i always wanted to learn to edit videos, and as a personal diary, i started to film my progress and made a yt channel for my friends and family but if you are interested please feel invited to grab a pint and check it out
my next minis will be some scouts, a librarian and a devastator squad
for feedback for what to get for my ultramarine army, painting and editing im always open for new ideas and inspiration!
Other goals: finish my old unpainted minis, a astra militarum army so i can play my old minis and a few other things.. but we will see... im pretty hyped at the moment...
i just finished my start collecting box and here are the results:
the first part of my journey. i hope the second part is ready tomorrow!

The marines are really clean, which I always think is the most important skill when starting. Then later you can decide whether to dirty things up or not.
I like the skaven too, but every time I look at them, my eyes get drawn to their teeth and I wonder where the hell they find time to go to such an excellent dental hygienist! Jokes! Have you thought about giving them yellow, or at least ivory coloured teeth?
The green clothes are good for the skaven. It contracts well with their fur without making them too bright.
Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

thank you!
i dont know why i didnt come back earlier... but what ever! now i am back and i love it and its realy fun to paint minis again!
the 2nd part of me painting my space marines in a time lapse:
Hey mate, some good looking stuff in here! I know the feeling of getting back into it after an extended break but looks like you are kicking some goals. I love the step-by-step pics of the new catachans - they look great - right out of a Schwarzenegger movie.
The ultramarines are super clean too - nice work on your edge highlighting - something I've always struggled with! The freehand checks on the shoulderpad are neat too. Interested to see what else you've got waiting on the shelf to have some new life breathed into it!

yea the catachan fighters look like on roids xD
they have to fight against warriors in high tech armors so i think they need to compensate that with more muscles!
the edges are very hard for me too!
i need to repair a lot of mistakes...

i think i had a lot of good ideas when i was 13. a lot of minis are modified... and now I'm trying to make my new minis look like the one on the packaging xD
Automatically Appended Next Post: i need more colors..
can i mix the colors of two different brands? like citadel with Vallejo or army painter?
is there a brand that is best?
or do i need to find out what is the best for me?
