Been doing Necs and Eldar for a while but want to spin up my Blood Angels.

Likely dumb question: can you take 2 battalions of BA, a Vanguard detachment of BA, and add an Imperial Knight as a Aux Detachment, -1cp?

Cheers, thanks

No, you can't take a knight in an Auxiliary Support Detachment, you have to use a Super-Heavy Auxiliary detachment.

Assuming using a Super-Heavy Auxiliary detachment:
In matched play, yes.

If you're using the suggestions for Organised play, only at games greater than 2,001 points in limit.

Also, you would lose all Doctrines, since Knights do not have them.

An importantly an Super-Heavy Auxiliary detachment has a 0 CP Command Benefit.

Sorry, would the BA lose their doctrines?

Thank you for the answers.

Not to derail the tread, but I've been having issues wrapping my head around soup for a while now. If I want to run Emperor's Children and Slaanesh demons as to separate factions, in two separate detachments, within the same 2000 point army would the chaos space marines lose their legion trait?

I'm truly not a fan of "souping" at all.

No, because Detachment Traits are tied to the detachment, not the entire army.

The only two codexes to have a bonus for an entirely pure army are Adeptus Astartes (Space Marines) and Adepta Sororitas (Sisters of Battle). Right now you can run an EMPEROR'S CHILDREN Detachment and a SLAANESH Detachment in the same army with no penalty.

Well, space Marines in general. Grey Knights, Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Blood Angels.

I was correcting bcb, as they were stating incorrect ideas

Ok, but if you arent counting GKs as Space Marines then neither are all the others I listed. In which case your correction was incomplete still.

Yep, but it wasn't incorrect.

And Admech, they loose Canticles

Admech: Lords of Jupiter
Custodes: Shadowkeepers
Astra Militarum: Jupiter pdf
Inquisition: Ordo Chronos
Tryanids: Hive Fleet Kraken
CSM: The Purge
Daemons: Garden of Nurgle

Cogito Ergo Sum

It is better to remain silent and be thought of the fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt.

No, they don't. Canticles is a Detachment level bonus.
Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus, Page 73 wrote:CANTICLES OF THE OMNISSIAH

If you have a Battle-forged army, units only receive the bonus if every model in their Detachment has this ability.

Ok, I am a little confused: if I have 2 battalions of BA, and a Super Heavy Auxiliary Detachment with an Imperial Knight Warden, what do I actually lose?

You lose Combat Doctrines and the superdoctrine, Savage Echos. The two battalions of BA will still benefit from Defenders of Humanity and The Red Thirst, and you'll unlock BA stratagems. The Imperial Knight will not get the Knight Lances (and thus cannot be given a edit: FREE relic as you cannot make it edit: Your Warlord a CHARACTER) or Household Traditions abilities as it is a Super-Heavy Auxiliary Detachment, but you will unlock Imperial Knights stratagems (edit: and thus can use the stratagem to give your Knight a relic for CP). If your Imperial Knight is a FREEBLADE, it will still gain Qualities and Burdens, so you'll need to decide whether you want access to a House's unique Stratagem or buffs to your FREEBLADE.

The Relic and Warlord Trait strats MAKE the Knight a character.

Fair point, I will amend my post. You can use the stratagem but you won't get a free relic since you can't make the Knight your warlord.

Combat doctrines are the Devastator, Tactical, Assault rules.
Lose them and Savage Echo? And can only have a stanard Imperial type knight Thats not too bad.
