So as I’ve posted before, I’m new to 40k and did my best to research what I could but a lot of the information is a few years old. This is the first army list I’ve ever created for 40k so I’m happy to hear any feedback regarding this list, if I forgot about or missed something please tell me! Let me also add that I know the my knight choices aren’t the best, I mostly picked them because they seemed to fit the strategy I had in mind and they are my three favorites. If it won’t work I welcome any feedback on how to fix it or what to look for. My basic strategy is the warden, onagers, and Skitarii will wear down the enemy with shooting/sniping while my two knights charge in with the dragoons mopping up while the vanguard goes for objectives and the priests either go for objectives or help mop up also.

Personally, I’d suggest running the Fulgurites as one squad of 10, instead of 2 squads of 5. You are more likely to get the 3++ invulnerable save on 1 large group than 2 minimum squads.

Another tip: I’d sooner spend points upgrading the knights stubbers to meltaguns than upgrading the skitarii vanguards to plasma, especially for the gallant and errent.

Also with the Fulgurites, if you could free up the points for a transport, they are much more likely to survive. I’d drop a dragoon to free up the points, but others may disagree. I find un-protected Fulgurites get shot off the board turn 1 as primary targets. Once they get their 3++ invulnerable on the other hand, I’ve had opponents simply refuse to shoot at them because they’re too likely to survive.

Lastly, I’m not sure 2 squads of snipers are enough to justify spending the points on a dominus. You might consider if a Manipulus, Daedalosus,or even another enginseer is preferable for your play style. Personally, I’ve found a manipulus running behind dragoon’s and/or a transport full of Fulgurites buffing movement (often Boosting the Fulgurites with Prime Hermeticon )to be better than an HQ with Monitor Malevelous. I never seem to regenerate more than 1 or at most 2 CP with that trait.

These are just suggestions to consider; there’s nothing wrong with your army list as is, just things I’ve learned in a couple years of playing knights with admech allies.

Thank you for the advice! I’m reworking my list right now. I dropped the plasma on the vans and upgraded the stubbers on the two front knights to melta. I dropped the dominus and added the Manipulus instead. Next question in this case, should I make the Enginseer my Warlord?

If you’re taking monitor malevelous on your warlord than the enginseer may be ok if you can hide him out of site somewhere with some troops to hide behind.

With 3 questoris knights I’d be sorely tempted to make one of them my warlord, even though that makes him a target. But I usually end up spending enough cp to make sure all my knights are characters with a warlord trait, or a relic, or both.

A garden grove on Citadel Station

Fulgurites: one big squad, as said above
Onagers: icarus and neutron laser are the two good options here, others are weak
Dragoons: should be in a big unit together, so you can use the +2 to hit melee stratagem on the big unit, which turns their normal "extra hit on 6 to hit" into a "extra hit on 4+ to hit"
Skitarii: this is fine. Most common way to use skitarii is probably with no weapons though. For example, for the price of a 62 point skitarii squad with 2 good guns and 3 expendable guys, you could instead have a squad of 9 plain skitarii at 63 points.
Often the job of troops is "keep the enemy away from my big guns" which the 9 basic skitarii rangers do more efficiently than 5 with special weapons.

Graia is not a very strong forge world, just so you know. People generally do Stygies VIII or Mars. Stygies VIII makes your whole army harder to kill, and Mars lets you take Belisarius Cawl who is very strong together with Kastelan Robots and the Mars specific stratagem.

Everything else looks fine. Overall good for a starting army.
