This article is almost a year old, and as far as I can tell nothing else came of it. Has anyone heard anything else?

The objective of the game is to win. The point of the game is to have fun. The two should never be confused.

Yes, but I believe it was released in either the States or Germany, and came with easy-to-build models from the AoS range for Stormcast Sequitors and Nighthaunt Banshees? Something like that.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

That was Dreadfane, and it actually added more rules, so not quite aimed at younger audiences.

Yeah, thats the one.

The announcement for Dreadfane was earlier in 2019 than the article you've linked to, so I'd venture the guess its still being worked on.

There is supposed to be a big preview coming soon, so maybe they might mention it then...

Dreadfane WAS the 'easy' starter for Underworlds. The game has been out quite a while. It is a Barnes & Noble exclusive for now. When/if it goes anywhere else, who knows. It took over a year for Space Marine Adventures to go nonexclusive and show up other places. Although even then, it was other major third-party retailers like Target. GW DOES NOT sell these games themselves, in-store, or on the web.

I have a copy of Dreadfane, seeing as it adds rules (Hazardous environment cards I think they are called), I'd say it isn't the easier version of the game. Also note the artwork in the linked preview I posted is of an Orruk, something which isn't in Dreadfane... in fact the artwork styles are completely different.

You can decide whatever you want. Did you mention Dreadfane has a twelve-page guide SPECIFICALLY to help new players pick up the game? Or that there was almost no deck customization included in it? The cards you mention were just for adding a 'twist' to an otherwise bland package. There is nothing else coming; they showed off the new exclusives at the NY Game Fair in February. A new Space Marine Adventures, and a new season of Blitz Bowl.

In short, Dreadfane WAS intended as a simpler, cheaper, limited model and deck building intro to Underworlds. If they intended some other product to come out, they clearly don't now.

The simple how to play comes with all versions of Warhammer Underworlds, hence why I didn't include it. Yes there is no deck customisation, bit that doesn't mean the game is simpler, Warhammer Underworlds Shadespire had beginner decks that were advised for those new to the game, that is no real difference.

Now they may have planed a more simpler version of the game, but focus for a simple game has shifted to Warcry (because that game is near enough Yahtzee with models).

The objective of the game is to win. The point of the game is to have fun. The two should never be confused.
