Greetings all!

New to the forums, but not gaming. I've been playing Warhammer 40K for over 20 years now. I enjoy the hobby aspect of the game. I created a space marine chapter and paint scheme, but have failed to name them. I'm asking for help to finalize a name out of a few choices I think are the best. Then I will write the lore and background for them. If you can assist me with which name best fits the paint scheme, I would greatly appreciate it.

The names chosen are as follows:

Void Knights
Vorpal Order
Vorpal Templars

Again I thank all of you who reply for your time in making this decision. Any comments are appreciated.

To be honest, Void Knights sounds like a CSM warband that broke off from the Grey Knights more than a Loyalist name. As for the other two, I would only consider using "Templars" in the name if you wanted them to be a Black Templars successor chapter and the pictures you included don't indicate that to me. Again, "Order" is a naming I would steer away from unless it was supposed to be a chapter related to the Inquisition, which also isn't indicated by what I see here. "Vorpal" is not something I would personally use in naming a SM chapter as it is technically a nonsense word invented for a nonsense poem that, thanks to D&D, has since gained the idea of being a weapon descriptor meaning it has an enchantment that allows it to decapitate an opponent if you're lucky. It sounds cool, but kinda odd in this use in my opinion.

Take from this what you will as it is your army and you can name it whatever you want, but I personally wouldn't use any of those names because "void" sounds like a chaos name, "knights", "order", and "templar" already have connotations with establish factions you don't appear to be looking to relate to, and "vorpal" is a magic weapon enchantment from D&D.

Aren't the Soul Eaters still Loyalists?

In my opinion, Void Knights is the best name. Vorpal Order just doesn't have the same impact, same with Vorpal Templars.

As for your paint jobs, stellar job! I look forward to seeing more.

Very true, and good points. I am looking at Imperial Fists Successor, but thats me being a huge Black Templar fan lol Black Templars are and still are my first army of choice (just waiting for better things to emerge if they do for them)

I was thinking of White something wolves, tigers etc but not really satisfied with the name, just doesn't feel right. The paint job was something different that I had never done before.

Thank you and I will keep the mind gears turning lol

I think Soul Drinkers is the chapter you may be thinking of, but Soul Eaters sounds like a chapter too lol.
Thank you and I will have more eventually. The 5 man squad is for a kill team that I wanted to do. Here are a few more names below.

How about "Porphyrian" Specters/Panthers/Ghosts/etc? I'm not an expert on color naming and the history of such, but a quick search for the Latin and Greek roots of purple turned up this interesting article: http://www.webexhibits.org/pigments/intro/purples.html
You could even paint your veterans with more purple parts and call them "Porphyrogenitors" after the name given to legitimate Byzantian emperors. Heck, I like that so much I might just use it myself somehow. I've already got a purple/black/grey scheme going with my unnamed IG army, so perhaps I'll come up with something suitable. But I digress, feel free to use my suggestion or not despite my thoughts on using it myself. Maybe it'll give you some inspiration even if you decide against it.

color scheme is white so it's echoing to me as snow and therefore pureness... that my interpretation from your chosen colors. Aren't the space marines in this thing of being pure?

pure revengers
pure templars
purification lords
puriticaters
unadulterators

Gonna be honest, I kind of like how 'Vorpal Order' trips off the tongue.

Vorpal is a nonsense word, but then it would hardly be out of place in 40K.

True. If used, I would keep it as a bladed weapon descriptor though. Something like Vorpal Sabres or Vorpal Glaives.

Your post made me chortle.

Personally I like Vorpal Order. It's different enough from others. Complaining a word is a nonsense word in a universe with Astartes, Primaris and Volkite is nonsense itself.

The word Order does bring to mind the Sisters of Battle, but not in a bad way IMHO.

The Knightly Order of Vorpal Templars?

lol True enough. KOoVT would be a funny name and acronym. Still, I think he wants a less joking name and made my observations and recommendations accordingly. And yes, "vorpal" is even less nonsense than the entire space pseudo Latin language GW made up for 40k, but there is a difference between them and I stand by my statement. I never once complained about the word choice or said he couldn't use them. He asked for opinions and I gave mine. You have a different one and I respect that. That's all.

Side note, you forgot something in your naming.

The Knightly Void Order of Vorpal Templars or KVOoVT for short. The new Angry Marines are coming to a town near you! ...hide...

Oh no, now you've got me thinking of every silly way to make the name sound even more pseudo Latin while squeezing all the descriptors in.

My favorite so far: Voidordus Templus Knightius.
