My very first batch. The exarch and the fusion gunner are all but finished. The ranger and the heavy weapons platform need to have gems painted in.
Quite proud of these as it's my first time. The priming though, not so much. I sprayed too far away and there are some massive speckling. Baby steps I guess. Will improve as time goes on. ^_^

Thanks guys!
It's actually a very dark blue-green but with the fusion gunner, I figured the blue-green parts need to be darker still to signify he's a storm guardian so I slathed the parts with about three layers of Nuln Oil.
Glad to see W40K vets appreciating this tiny batch. ^_^ <3

Thanks ingtaer! How'd you do that?
About the yellow, it's Mephiston Red (undercoat) then multiple coats of Flash Gitz yellow.
Before the coat of FGitz though, I undercoated further with a mix of Ceramite White and FGitz. But I think for future models, I'll skip that step. It introduces a more textured finish that I do not like. :(

Try with a grey basecoat and go from grey to averland sunset then a yellow.
Red basecoat makes the yellow darker so you want as bright a starting point as you can lest it comes out blotchy as you have to pile on more and more layers to bring the yellow up.
Looking decent

I noticed that Flash Gitz without an undercoat tends to have a subtle greenish tinge to it so I thought to myself: "what's the opposite of green?" I experimented with Mephiston Red and am pleased with the result. You're right though, the minis demand several layers of yellow to get them looking like that. A YouTuber suggest pink as a basecoat for yellow. Will probably try that---and your recommendation---with another army and see if I'll have an easier time with those undercoats. Thanks for the tip Argive!

Oh, you started out with mephiston red and finished up with this yellow? Sounds like a nightmare
You earned some respect then
Keep up the good work, I have been trying to get a decent paintjob on my eldar for 8 years without really beeing satisfied with the result. A difficult range of models to get right.
Edit: Nice bases, The bases could also have messed up the impression of the yellow if it was painted in a more striking color.

Was busy with RL priorities hence the super-late replies.
Thanks! Much appreciated!

Haha! Yeah I should have started with a much tamer pink.
After some thinking, I plan to color the bases a desaturated violet. Should make the yellow pop.

As others have said, well done with such a difficult color. One piece of advice I could give is that, if you're going to go with many washes of nuln oil, give a generous dry brushing of a lighter colour before or even between the washes. Might help add some depth to those surfaces.

Got held up by RL issues. Apologies for the late reply.
This is a good tip. Thanks!
