Hey dakka users. What do you all think of mono deamons will they be viable again or will they keep making you soup them.

It’s pretty much impossible to say but my bet would be mono Khorne will be the worstof the daemons running a mono lost, no psychic ability and limited ranged ability is still not going to be great.

That could be wrong though as we have no idea yet since we only have very limited information.

Whether or not it's good. I'm still gonna run it at some events. I love pure KD. Flood the board with bloodletters and have some daemon princes backing them up. Have flesh hounds flank and help with anti psyker, bloodthirster flying up the board smashing everything in it's wake. Sounds fun to me.

All available information points to the same scenario as last edition: you're in an uphill battle in casual games but winnable against bad opponents, completely screwed in any kind of competitive environment.

As long as ranged units have zero natural incentives to get within 18'' of an enemy unit, mono-Khorne will never be strong and the majority of your time will be spent removing models from the table while desperately trying to footslog your stuff into combat with the enemy's chaff.

Exactly.
1) I already own an all Khorne demon army (ok, primarily for AoS use, but....)
2) I like all the models in my army, W/L/D - I like how they play, & I can win games with it here in 8th. In 9th? Looks like I'll be able to make good use of the core rules they've been previewing, so I imagine I'll be able to win with the army.
Conclusion: I might as well play my Khorne in 40k on occasion.

That's a cool moral high ground (I feel the same way about my Khorne armies), but doesn't actually address the question proposed.

Sorry, I meant to add. I think with the rules previews so far. It'll be much better than 8th. But, it's still kinda early to say much of anything.

Even in 8th I managed to pull out wins over things I should've lost against. So, anything is possible I guess.

Mono khorne daemons are probably screwed. Mono Khorne CSM+Daemons might be viable doing Daemon Engine spam.

Always 1 on the crazed roll.

Probably not a lot different to 8th, to be honest - which is to say not great. We won't know for sure until we see the points changes, though.

One thing I am interested in is the change to Heavy weapons on vehicles. Soul Grinders and Skull Cannons always struggled in my experience, since they lost so much of their effectiveness as soon as you moved them.

And I'm relieved that I won't need to take a Troop or HQ tax to get a decent number of CPs. Will probably take a big Bloodletter bomb and a few small squads to cap objectives, but leave the rest of the list for killy stuff.

I'm sure I'll still enjoy using the Daemons every now and then as a kind of "NPC" army, but I don't expect them to break the meta any time soon.

Three bloodthirsters with multiple exalted stratagem upgrades, one has the no more than 8 damage per phase ability, and the relic axe which allows him to get back up on 4+, the other two are hiding in the warp, lots of daemon princes hiding behind that bloodthirster, within 3" of each other, so they cant be targeted, bloodletters and skull cannons hiding in terrain, could work.
