So I'm looking for something I can use to protect my work space.

Got a large cutting mat but would like to put something on the entire are against spills. Historicaly when painting on kitchen tables I went with newspapers, used to work but they are not ideal as they tear and crackle.

Any tips ?

Cheerio.

I use guard dogs and snipers to protect my work space.

Seriously, I only use a mat. It's a citadel one, so it has a lip in case a pot tips over, but if I knock a pot over away from the mat I'm screwed... I haven't had a spill in a year and a half of painting, though.

I've just cursed myself, haven't I?

This may seem weird, but Pet stores sell a rubber mat for their food and water bowls with a lip to contain spills. sits well, has non-skid backing, and works the way it should. The downside...usually a dog bone or something shaped into it

Protect work space? My table is the palette.

Nothing. And now it's protected with a layer of paint!

In seriousness something disposable should do like a piece of wax butcher paper or baking paper.
For something more permanent a large sheet of plexiglass, those are not cheap but easy to clean acrylic off.

I use one of those for my 3d printer, it's great for doing all the aftercare work on, then once in a while I leave it outside for all the resin spills to cure and clean it down.

I also have an A2 cutting mat on the top of my painting table, and I just use old newspaper to protect the pullout draw when I'm airbrushing.

how about a kids' mattress protector?
Else buy a 2nd hand table that you don't mind if it gets paint & cuts on it?

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

I'm not sure about big spills but I use a large ceramic wall tile from a DIY shop. I got one with a shiny smooth finish which makes it easy to mix and remove paint on/from, also it's really good to mix green stuff on. Plus, it cost me about £2.

I don't.

I guess I have blood everywhere.

Seriously though, my table is a mess. I don't do a lot of cutting
anymore, so that's part of it.

Best protection against spills is palette and droppler bottles.

Yeah, right up until you apply just a bit to much pressure with a clogged nozzle...

Have an old fibreboard GW painting tray, and a couple of old wooden chopping boards. But as often as not I tend to just use 'being careful'...
