I assume the Vortex Missile is there?
I mean I wouldn't put it past GW to have an ICBM that can fire into melee...

It's a bit funny that vehicles can fire their Krak but not the Frag Missile at somebody in CC. If I sit in, lets say a scout sentinel I would be much less concerned of letting some Frags explode immediatly at my machine than detonating a Krak round. It's also funny that the Leman Russ Vanquisher cannon (the ultra long high velocity tank hunter) can fire at the genestealer hugging its tracks, but the Demolisher can't. But so are the rules...
At least now the Leman Russ Exterminator migth find his niche, as being cheaper than the (expected to become more expensive) Battle canon, able to fire into melee while still having a more decent range than the Punisher. Still not really good, but more worth it than before.

Being blast weapon will be a nerf because they'll become more expensive because GW overvalues the blast bonus but with this new edition hordes and big units are hossed.
That doesnt mean in the future we can see a change in the meta and hordes making a comeback, I mean, in 8th we have gonne full circle from horde and vehicle spam to elite spam to vehicle spam to elite infantry spam again.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

SM leaked points values show that some blast weapons like Plasma Cannons or Missile Launchers are actually 1pt and 5pts cheaper than in 8th. Don't know about other weapons since I don't play primaris and Hellfrost weapons weren't included in the leaks but it seems that many ranged weapons including some Blast ones are actually cheaper than they used to be.

I wouldn't take Marine weapons especially Primaris ones as representative as they seem to be enjoying another round of power creep out the wazzo in the changes from 8th to 9th for whatever rediculous reason GW feels justified it this time.

Because between blast existing at all and the coherency rules, I can't see very many big units being around.
So essentially blast will just be 'Can't fire into combat' the majority of the time right?
So isn't being a blast weapon technically worse?
Contextually dependent, which is arguably as it should be. I think a lot of units are still forced to run at 10 minimum, too. So it would appear that D3 Blasts are still hitting their maximum amounts for those targets. Plasma Cannons will annihilate Necron Warrior squads, which are min 10.
For anything above a D3 shot weapon its going to be a nerf especially as GW seem to be inceasing points for some wealons and not others with the blast keyword.
It's going to suck when your forced to blast weapon.
I'll wait to see the point values before I make any sort of judgement.

I quoted two classic SM weapons, not primaris ones. They're 50% of all the combinations of blast I can take with my SW since I don't play primaris and the remaining 50% is SW only, not SM so they weren't showed in the leak. Also other classic ranged weapons went down in points, Lascannons got a massive discount.

People want to say it's primaris that have been OP about marines but it's REALLY not been the case. Statistically, it's much more sensible to be terrified of changes to vanilla marine units than Primaris.
Considering a Lascannon is now only 1 point more expensive than a current meltagun...yeesh. Plasma also seems to have gotten across the board drops. Meanwhile Multi-Meltas went UP for some unfathomable reason.

It's not just primaris the difference ia shooting at old marines outaide of SS spam felt productive in 8th shooting as Gravis spam and IH especially after codex 2.0 ruined the faction for me.
And I collected Ultramarines since 2nd edition and that codex just broke the army for me.

So where are people getting these point values?
Maybe Multimeltas are getting their 2d6 bonus at their full range now, to make space for the Eradicators.
