I haven’t played 40k since 5th edition and I’ve been thinking about getting back into it and starting a new force. Was narrowing down which factions I would like to start and Emperors Children is certainly one of them.

However, I looked through the GW site and they no longer sell the Noise Marine sets like they have for Khorne Berzerkers or Thousand Sons. Only just the bits to turn regular CSMs into noise marines. What gives with this? I liked the Noise Marine models.

I also saw there are now codexes for Thousand Sons and Death Guard. Is it possible that Emperors Children are being redone and a codex is coming? I’m sure Khorne and World Eaters guys are hoping they same thing, but their model range is at least still on the GW website. I heard GW is going to release something big that relates to Slaanesh for Age of Sigmar? If this is true, my bet is they release something similar in the 40k universe about the same time.

Hi Spartan 117, welcome back!

As a big EC player myself (also since 5th!), I can highly recommend them for 8th and also going into 9th.

They can run fairly well as a heavily shooting-orientated army with noise marine troops and sonic dreadnoughts (though we don't know how long the rules for those are going to stick around since currently it's in a FAQ to a FW index allowing the standard hellbrute to take sonic weapons...) They also received a bit of support in PA: Faith & Fury, which gave them some superb stratagems, relics and some decent warlord traits. EC characters can be particularly brutal!

As far as I can recall, the old noise marine kits were simply standard CSM with the upgrade sprue thrown in - which they now sell separately as they have since upgraded the old CSM. So until they bring out some proper noise marine kits, it's all aboard the train to conversion town - if you don't like the GW stuff I can recommend Kromlech and Spellcrow as good sources for EC noise marine conversion bits (including sonic weaponry).

As for a codex, we're all still waiting - there have been various rumours but nothing I'd call solid, so it's unclear when we *might* get a separate codex. You could decide to wait and see if they release a separate codex, but then again you might be waiting a long time...

Oh yes and there's the FW Kakophoni if you want to spend an eye-watering amount of money on a squad of 5 guys with sonic blasters.

They're nice models, but prohibitively expensive for what you get.

There's a widespread hope/belief that EC will be the next Traitor Legion to get a proper release, although at this point I'd just settle for a plastic Noise Marine kit. Have been many hints at the return of Fulgrim in official GW publications over the last 3.5 years but tragically nothing concrete

There are lots of CSM models disappearing from the GW site, you can’t even get venom crawlers last time I looked. So I think CSM might be on the path to a new codex as well as a EC as it would be easier to do them concurrently I think.

I bought the FW kakophoni and they are not as easy to put together as GW kits, this was my first FW kit so maybe they are all like that. But they are great models

The kakoponi purple is great colour though and layers nicely over darker purples and the emperors children is a good highlight.

But as others said your into kit bash territory at the minute.

Venomcrawler is available in the CSM Start Collecting box (as that is just the CSM half of Shadowspear).

As far as I can recall, it never got an independent release as a full kit, so this is possibly not the best example of things disappearing.

Correct. Master of Possession, new plastic oblits, greater possessed and venomcrawler have never had separate kits.

Ok well it’s just ridiculous then, if you want 2 venom crawlers you have to buy 2 start collecting boxes????

A lot of the non black legion stuff is Out of stock, maybe it’s a sign

Currently, yes. Similar position, AFAIK, if you want to field two units of Suppressors as a SM player (though why you'd want to field anything that ugly, I don't know).

Point being, you cannae use them as an example of something disappearing if it never existed as its own entry in the first place.

As for items being out of stock? I'm not sure I'd take it as a sign at present - AFAIk, GW are still not operating their factory at full capacity, so I'm guessing they're prioritising what gets produced at the moment, and some of the items may be lower priority than you'd think.

Sure I agree I just don’t get their policy I wanted to have a bunch of venom crawlers in my army but I’m not buying 3 or 4 of those sets so they’ve lost some money there.
